Hibiscus has a very unique taste separate from the typical floral flavors you get in some beer. I've not had that particular beer, but I have had hibiscus beers in the past. I haven't been a fan so far, which is a shame cause I fucking love hibiscus and go through quite a bit of it for cooking and drinks.

I'm on the opposite coast so not much chance of trying it, but I was wondering if the hibiscus comes across as flowery at all?
I've never had hibiscus in anything (that I know of) so I can't really compare, but this beer isn't particularly flowery in taste compared to other 'floral' beers I've had. I'm not sure if that's a result of hibiscus having a unique taste like Tea says, or because of the honey giving it a very sweet flavor that masks the hibiscus. The beer itself definitely leans heavily towards sweet, with just a slight hint of floral flavor.

Seems like Seattle just added a few days from the week before American Craft Beer week (5/12-5/18)... MN had it's own from 5/5-5/11 and now it's American Craft beer weeks... so 14 days?

I don't even understand why Tampa has beer week. There is shit going on every week and something unexpected being tapped every week somewhere.

SF Beer Week is nine days. And it's awesome. I tried so much new stuff and some of the events are very affordable ($40 all you can drink!).

I tried a hibiscus beer at Outside Lands last year and it was delicious. I don't remember the brewer or the name of the beer though because I suck.

If you like peaches, they're in there. I was afraid it might be a little too sweet, but it wasn't at all. I will have it again.

I'm heading to theBacon and Beer Classicin Seattle this weekend. It sounds awesome, but I'm a little worried that since it is a nationwide thing that only the bigger craft breweries will be represented. Hopefully some of the smaller Seattle area stuff will be there but if not I'm sure I will be finding some SBW events for afterwards so I can get my hipster beer cred later on.

Hibiscus... tastes like a rose mixed with a juicy apple and splenda

for my 40th, my wife went into the best local place and asked for help spending ~$200 on beer that a hop-head would favor. here is the result:

You mean his wife did. But I guess he wins that by proxy since he landed her.

Was very disappointed with this. Lot's of carbonation, little else. Very winelike in flavor, but it was so dry the flavors just came across as thin and lacking.

So I am going to say the Bacon and Beer Classic probably isn't worth it. There was a good selection of breweries, but they limit you to 25 2oz pours (over 4 hours) and the lines are so long you'd be lucky to get them all. On top of that most of the food has longer lines than the beer and is just local restaurants adding some bacon sprinkles on top of their normal food, rather than featuring actual bacon dishes. Overall not worth the price of admission.

Seeking and loving Sours lately.

The Tap brewery has Intergalactic Acid which I am almost alcoholic for
Been on a sour & farmhouse saison kick too. Been picking up a lot of Petrus, Rodenbach (my favorite), Duchesse de Bourgogne, Prairie Farms, Crooked Stave, and Monk's Cafe (my go-to as it is inexpensive and easy to find). We have some local breweries too that do sours (Against the Grain, Upland Brewery) that I've been having on tap.

Wish I had access to west coast sours. Would love some Lost Abbey, Russian River, New Belgium, and Cascade sours.

That's funny... the beer club I'm in had it's monthly meeting last night and it was Sours night.

Schell's North Country Brunette (Sour Marzen)
Timmermans Oude Gueuze
Cuvee Des Jacobins Rouge
Rodenback Grand Cru
Jolly Pumpkin Luciernaga
De Proefbrouwerij Zoetzuur Flemish Ale
New Belgium La Folie 2014
Brau Brother Bancreagie 26 (Sour Peated Ale)

The line up was awesome. I especially loved the Timmermans and the Schell's.

A few Cascades have been showing up here recently so I grabbed the peach to try. It wasn't bad, was good in fact, but at $26 for the bottle, it just didn't feel like money well spent. And I love sours.
