Guys, if you aren't doing anything wrong, they won't find anything illegal during the cavity search. What's the big deal?
Will they be using their hands to feel around or will they be shoving the Kinect up there so they can get a clear picture? This answer is important so I can get a bottle of KY with my Xbone pre-order.

Here is the thing I debated with on IRC with Sean and he doesn't agree but we shall see if other people agree.

They are pushing the Kinect because with it being optional nobody will buy it and therefore the games made for it will get very little funding because it's a small portion of that market exclusive to one console only so no multi platform either. The only chance they have of good games coming out for the Kinect is making it mandatory on every console made. The only way you get "innovation" is by forcing it.

The reason you use AC in your house is because it was forced on you despite DC being the better option. Have we learned nothing from Edison and Tesla? The people that push something new and have the money to back it are the ones that win. Sure there is no such thing as a good Kinect game now but if it's guaranteed to be on every single Xbox sold then developers will start making games because why not. Will they be good? Nobody knows.
My theory is that they are pushing the Kinect because they want to make inroads in the per person-per view market and compete with theaters. Imagine if Xbox was able to work out deals with studios guaranteeing them they could monitor home viewership of their movies and thereby get releases to "Xbox-Theater", where you pay per person to watch a movie from the theater. It would be a MASSIVE market they could tap into (And a huge new revenue source for MS). Right now, no Studio will do it because that ability to charge per view per person is a huge money grab for them...But if they could translate that to home audiences with a guarantee of similar controls? They'd absolutely go ape shit for Xbox, because they'd know tons and tons of people who won't go to the theater, or don't have time to, WILL pay for a movie, per person, at home if they could.

That's, in my opinion, is why you're seeing all these patents for the Xbox to measure viewing populations--so they can reliably control how many people watch content, so they can begin this move from theaters to homes.

Sorry, the afraid of the government sissy nutjobs have already posted in this thread that the NSA can and does turn on/off your devices at will and can turn on/off the microphones/cameras at will. If you own the device they can get whatever they want to get about you.

Which makes crying about Kinect even more silly imo.

Unless of course you guys don't have smartphones, computers, tablets or anything of the type. Maybe you still communicate via smoke signals and carrier pigeon and drive a covered wagon.
So basically your only argument is a fallacious one that employs one wrong to justify another?

Cool story bro.

Sure, if the one wrong already encompasses everything you claim the Kinect will be able to do. Besides, it's not so much a wrong as part of the price of living in the America of today. If, as you say, everything the Kinect can do is already being done by multiple devices and multiple companies and, as you say, there is no way to get away from it while living here, that to me makes the Kinect harmless. Whether or not I have a Kinect all the shit you're scared about the Kinect doing is already actively being done half a year before the Xbox One even goes on sale.

It seems silly to me to cry about it. Silly and hypocritical.

That sounds sweet. I hate going to the theater.
Oh, I agree, it absolutely does sound sweet. But a company trying to NOT be devious fuck faces would have had those systems in place with an off switch. And switching off would deactivate the ability to play the movie.

That's my beef with MS..I can see a lot of the directions they want to go. And they have some great, innovative ideas. The problem is rather than sell those innovations, they are using them as bait so they can do all kinds of underhanded shit. I wasn't joking earlier when I said the company is being run like a used car lot--it is. They have a decent product, but they are trying to get over on you just for even attempting to buy it.

You're going to college right now and young aren't you?
Yes and no.

You're halfway to Edgar Casey, but you'll need try to a lot harder if you ever want to reach Nostradamus' abilities.

Besides, it's not so much a wrong as part of the price of living in the America of today.
So kinda like how child rape is just part of the price of living in Afghanistan today?

Nothing hypocritical about it, your argument implies that I'm happy with what's going on with Google et al as well.

Nope.

I also find it funny you say its "silly" to complain about...a corporation wanting to monetize our activities in our homes for its own profits.

Do you....enjoy getting ass fucked by corporations at every opportunity?

Let me guess, you think the free market will fix it all, right?

Yup. Probably why Afghanistan isn't high on the list of countries people look to migrate to.

However you have a smartphone and actively use the internet, correct? Yet here you are trying to implore everyone not to purchase a Xbox One because of the evil of Kinect.

Well, apparently it'd be a good fit for yourself, by your own admission.

Have you ever considered converting to Islam and growing a beard?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tu_quoque

Tu quoque /tu?'kwo?kwi?/,[1] (Latin for "you, too" or "you, also") or the appeal to hypocrisy, is a logical fallacy that attempts to discredit the opponent's position by asserting the opponent's failure to act consistently in accordance with that position; it attempts to show that a criticism or objection applies equally to the person making it. This dismisses someone's point of view based on criticism of the person's inconsistency, and not the position presented,[2] whereas a person's inconsistency should not discredit their position. Thus, it is a form of the ad hominem argument.[3] To clarify, although the person being attacked might indeed be acting inconsistently or hypocritically, this does not invalidate his argument.
Repeating yourself over and over again hoping you'll stop being stupid at some point by repetition is also a fallacy. Its called ad naseum.

It is silly to complain about a corporation trying to make money. That is why they exist. The activities in my home have been monetized for years. Ever heard of TV commercials? What about radio commercials? As long as the corporations also make my life easier/better than I'm all for it. I have disposable income and I'd love for Microsoft to be able to sell me shit I'm actually interested in buying or as Lithose posted have the ability to let me watch brand new movies in the comfort of my own home.

Corporations are going to "ass fuck" people no matter what. They exist to generate profit. They're a business. They're not non-profit organizations built to improve humanity. All I ask is that their products in some way make my life better/easier. Microsoft does that for me. Google does that for me. If they want to record my boring life and store it some where why do I give a fuck? Privacy has been dead for a long ass time. If I was that worked up about it, I'd move.

Have you ever considered converting to Islam and growing a beard?
I'm not keen on converting to any religion as I'm incapable of loving anyone else more than I love myself.

Repeating yourself over and over again hoping you'll stop being stupid at some point by repetition is also a fallacy. Its called ad naseum.
I enjoy fallacies, especially ad naseum. Seemingly at least as much as you enjoy linking wikipedia articles, whining about the reality of our world without having the balls to see through your convictions and pointing out why people's arguments are invalid.

Oh, well, then I guess the tobacco companies did nothing wrong, as well.

The rest of your post is just more begging companies to rape you because you think rape feels good.

That's great.

You like being raped.

Most of us don't, fucking weirdo.

Unless they force people to buy their products at gun point, I don't see how they're any different than soda companies, coffee companies, just about every single processed food company or any of the other corporations running America.

If you don't like it, why are you here? Why are you campaigning so hard against Microsoft and Kinect while actively contributing to these other corporation's bottom lines?

While you really are overly paranoid if you think microsoft has any desire to watch you ugly people masturbate, I really can't think of a good reason you can't disconnect or unplug it separately.

Strawman argument and back to the tu quo que. You're a broken record at this point.

Reductio ad absurdum your argument

"Well as long as companies aren't forcing you to drink the city water, who cares if they dump uranium in the local stream?"

Pretty goddamn bad argument bro.

I mean, I know you think its good. That's because of the Dunning Kruger effect though.

I don't disagree but MS won't get good Kinect games unless they do this. Total chicken or the egg scenario. I hate the Kinect myself but that is why MS has to do this if they are going to continue pursuing the Kinect.
There won't ever be such a thing as a "good Kinect game" for the vast majority of the console audience. That's the problem. Microsoft doesn't need to force it on us in the hopes that someone *might* make a good Kids game. If someone was going to make a killer app using body-waggle bullshit they'd have done so by now, but the fact is no one really wants to play games like that and it sucks. It's dead end tech for gaming and far worse than the Wii-waggle for casual gaming to boot.

They're just not going to get a good Kinect game period, so forcing it on us is dumb. The only reasonable applications the tech has is the UI functionality and they do not need to force a $100 gesture control device on everyone just for that shit. That's therealreason they have made it mandatory though, to make sure the TV gesture control crap is in every box (well, and so they can do targeted advertising). They want to make sure everyone knows about their whole body-waggle multimedia experience crap. It has absolutely nothing to do with them wanting people to innovate gameplay with Kinect, because that's just not happening.

Strawman argument that presumes I support 10 shitty greedy corporations.

I do not. Fallacy argument harder. Or just go rape some more underaged minors. Whichever.
