I vote we remove and ban all content related to xboner. Clearly lost. All xboner supporters should go to a forum that supports their choice, something along the line of homosexuality. I think superbonerstroker can point you there

What happened when the PS3 got rid of the Linux?
Not much? The normal class action grumble (that never happens), the normal promises of never buying anything from Sony ever again due to this monumental, epic betrayal of its customers (ooooh PS4! Rock on!), and then....nothing.
Not really. Taking away OtherOS was the whole reason the PS3 got hacked at all. The community got pissed, put its power behind finally figuring out how to exploit it, and now it's like the iPhone - every firmware update just takes a little time to patch, and the hacking continues. Not only are PS3 games easy to hack, the community has also figured out how to run PS2 (and PS1, and PSP) games on the system, confirming that Sony not supporting backwards compatibility was complete BS.

The only reason for them to cut the family plan once they cut the 24 hour DRM was vindictiveness. I said that like 10 pages ago too.

They're just mad that their consumers rebelled, so since Microsoft doesn't get what it wants, fuck everyone else.
I don't know why that would be the case. From what we're hearing now, the "family sharing plan" was just a glorified demo whose primary goal was to sell more games. I doubt they'd cut something like that for revenge. More likely, they realized that it would cause even more backlash when people found out it wasn't anything like what they were leading us to believe (I'm guessing this was part of the "the DRM is worse than you've heard" rumor) and tried to bury it in their reversal press release. I wouldn't be surprised for it to return in another fashion.

What I find amusing about this that it's just another thing damned if you do/damned if you don't moment from Microsoft's horrible managing of their message. They really can't deny this rumor and say, "No, it reallywasawesome, and you don't get it now!" because that's just more negativity surrounding the console, yet not doing so confirms in a lot of people's mind that this was just another example of Microsoft being disingenuous and hurts any trust Microsoft is trying to rebuild.

The best part about that "family plan" was people saying how cool it was going to be in the comment section of those articles defending it's DRM policy. I almost want to go post that in the comment section to hopefully show them how stupid they are but I know it would be a gigantic waste of time.

Not even that, there articles on a bunch of major gaming/electronic sites lamenting the loss of the family "share" plan after MS backtracked on their DRM.

Looks like Sony is pretty confident in their production capabilities:

http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=599131
Confirmation other than gaf:http://www.gametrailers.com/side-mis...ystem-reserves

A source gave us this information and has been verified with a second source. We've been told that many GameStop locations weren't close to fulfilling their PS4 preorders due to a high allocation count. One store was cited to have initially 24 PS4's allocated for preorders, which then increased to 138 systems throughout the week. Currently that location has 66 preorders for the PS4. In contrast with the Xbox One, there's 12 preoders with an allocation of 18.

Last week, Andrew House, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, told The Wall Street Journal that "demand may outstrip supply," after Sony raised their internal sales projections for the next-gen console. Jack Tretton from Sony was told by GameStop executives that the chain would buy "every single unit" that Sony can produce if they could.
66 pre-orders to 12 in one store, 138 allocation slots to 18.

Hopefully Sony can really meet this production level, 'cause fuck scalpers.

Just wow. Makes me think back to Microsoft's E3 announcement. Why the fuck would they agree to go first? No fucking way I'd reveal my details with what most people suspected might happen.

Really makes you scratch your head at the leadership coming from Microsoft, this could have played out much differently with even a TINY bit of thought.

138 units for Gametop_Store_005 is a hell of a lot isn't it? Scalping seems like it won't be much of an issue.

So their much bragged about family plan was basically a huge demo system?
Fucking hilarious. So glad to hear that nothing of value was lost. In essence, this dipshit is saying "forget the one benefit of what we told you before, there REALLY was NO WAY to share your games".

Yeah that doesn't make any sense. I don't get how once a day DRM/trade bans and Family "Demoing" programs are mutually exclusive. Can someone elaborate on this for me, because I can't quite see where this guy is coming from. From the tone of the pastebin, this guy must have been drinking the MS koolaid hardcore.

Not much MS is doing is making sense aside from back pedaling.

It is a hell of a lot, assuming that isn't one of the busiest stores in the company. I worked at Gamestop through the PS1, N64, Dreamcast, Ps2, Xbox, Gamecube launches back in the day. I had a dozen or so stores in my district(in a metropolitan area) and even my #1 volume store had maybe 30 PS2s at launch, the slower ones more like 10. Xbox was about the same, maybe slightly more. I think out of all of those, we had a bigger allocation of Dreamcasts than anything. I definitely remember having 50-60 Dreamcasts at launch per store on average(Segas problem was peripherals. The VMUs and extra controllers were in super short supply). Gamestop has grown a lot since I left the company in 2004, they probably have over twice as many store locations now. So we can probably assume that with twice the # of stores, and that much allocation(assuming that is an "average" store) that there are probably 4-8x as many systems available for launch for the PS4 as there ever was for the launch of any system in the PS1 - PS2 era.

I also would have expected Amazon pre-orders to have grown over the years which would take a chunk out of gamestops pre-orders. Maybe that is not true though.

Very possible about Amazon, but you also don't have retailers around like Circuit City, KB Toys, and Blockbuster/Hollywood Video chewing up allocaiton anymore, so Gamestops portion might not be hugely effected. Several large brick & mortar retailers have disappeared in the last decade, and a lot of on-line ones have taken their place. I think it's definitely safe to say though that at BEST, Gamestop is getting the same % of the overall pie, but it's quite likely it could be less. Amazon is a beast.

I'm really starting to think MS had zero intentions to release this year. All this crap just seems so half baked and thrown together. If its not a rush job, then Jesus they are so out of touch it is just sad. Sonys production schedule must be insane to pump out that many units.
