Whether it's different than the earlier ones or not, it still looks like a rather mediocre FPS with shiny graphics and too much lens flare. If you've played the majority of FPS games on a PC in the last few years, it doesn't look like anything special. The only launch game that looks like it's worth owning on one of the new systems is Watch Dogs. AC4 will be fun, but you can get it on your old PS3 or a PC just as easily, you don't need a next-gen system to play it, so it's nothing special as a launch title either(although I do expect it to be a good game)

I honestly don't see anything releasing this year that I really want other than Watch Dogs. Now I just have to decide if 1 game is worth a system purchase, or if I'll just wait until 2014 when there's more than 1 game worth owning.

You can get pretty much any game on PC over 360/PS3 so does that mean nobody should have bought those? The only reason you buy a PS4 is graphics and an upgraded interface. If you are expecting a totally different gaming experience then console gaming isn't for you it seems.

I own consoles for the exclusives they offer that I cant get on a pc, and it looks like there is only 1 console exclusive game worth buying this year on next-gen(watch dogs), unfortunately. This is one of the weakest launch lineups in the history of console launches.

Some of us greatly beg to differ on that. It's easily the best I've ever seen.

watch dogs is coming out on pc on nov 19th, same release date as consoles. There are a few console exclusives but yeah, the list is pretty small if you are a pc gamer.

I buy consoles because I am a gamer and whether it comes now at launch or later there will be games that as a gamer I should play.

Ed Note: I don't own every gaming system but that is generally because my disposable income is such that I still have to pace myself.

I didn't realize that, so there are zero launch exclusives worth buying a system for. 2014 it is then, I see no reason to buy a new console this year.

Hell, N64 only launched with two games, Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64, and that was a better launch lineup than either one of these next gen systems this fall. Those games were absolutely mind-blowing at the time they released. 3D graphics had never been done so well and so smoothly up to that point.

Dreamcast easily had the best launch lineup of all time:
Sonic Adventure(great Sonic game)
House of the Dead 2(maybe most popular light-gun series of all time)
Hydro Thunder
NFL 2K(best football game ever made up to that point)
Power Stone(incredible game, every bit as fun as Smash Brothers)
Soul Calibur(maybe the best 3D fighting series of all time)
Tokyo Extreme Racer(amazing game, the perfect combo of Gran Turismo and Need for Speed)
and about 10 other titles, most average to above average games.

Now that was a system launch, Sega did that shit right, it's too bad the PS2 killed them about 6 months later.
ahh, NFL 2K brought some tears to my eye! After the bars one night. We went to some dudes house for the late night after the bars close party and he had a dreamcast and NFL2K. I played it and soon as i woke up the next afternoon i went n bought me a damn dreamcast! Loved it. Ever since then i've had a massive hardon for 2K haha.

Memory lane.

I look at that release and release window games list for the PS4 on IGN and something is odd: Knack (which is Cerny's game) is the only japanese game of the bunch. Capcom? Bandai Namco? Sega? Konami? Square Enix? Nowhere to be seen. I suspect that the list will get expended as the Tokyo Game Show gets closer.

http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/...with-warning/?

We told you not too long ago that both Sony and Microsoft had officially priced their respective PS4 and Xbox One games at $60, the same retail price as current software titles for the PS3 and Xbox One. At the time, doubts started to appear after first-party, not third-party games were only mentioned frequently. Now we know the real reason for this, as EA has now confirmed their PS4 and Xbox One prices and it looks like you are going to have to pay more for their games.

As far as we?re aware, EA hasn?t made a big statement about this (why would they?) but it looks like the information has been inadvertently revealed thanks to a retailer FAQ from GAME in the UK. Consumers are usually used to paying around ?40-45 for a new game after a general retail price of ?50, but we can tell you that EA are set to raise their prices in the transition to next-gen.

GAME has confirmed that EA has already set their PS4 and Xbox One RRP price with them, as their games will have a full retail price of ?54.99. This means that you could be paying ?55 for the likes of Battlefield 4 and FIFA 14 when the consoles launch, which is obviously a price that many of you will feel is simply too high in today?s economic climate.

Also bear in mind that if EA are increasing their retail prices in the UK, it also means that they are almost certain to do it in the US as well. ?55 translates to around $80, but it is slightly ridiculous to think that EA would have the guts to charge consumers $80 for PS4 and Xbox One games in the US when Sony and Microsoft will be charging $60 for their first-party games.

It?s also worth pointing out that EA is the only third-party publisher so far to confirm prices, we haven?t seen what the likes of Bethesda, Ubisoft and Capcom plan to do with their own games yet. You should also take into consideration that actual street prices can differ, so we may still see prices on EA games lower than the full ?55 tag.

What do you make of this though? Would you be shocked if you see EA games priced at ?55 or $80 from EA, but $60 and ?45 games from all other publishers?
So basically, if this turns out to be true, EA are pricing themselves right out of the market?

Good news for everyone imo

They can suck a massive fucking dick if they price their games at $80. I'll have no problem waiting a year or 2 to buy a used copy for $20 for whatever game it is if I even bother at all.

Unless the other studios follow suit... Ugh, stupid devs.
It's not the devs its the fucken publishers. Fuck EA. I'd be ok if the money was going straight to the devs because it would increase quality because the increase in wage would make positions within gaming companies more attractive.

Suddenly the reason for EA/Microsoft to lock up the used game market becomes clear. Still I wonder why they didn't just screw over gamers the usual way.. You know with 0day DLC. Although I wouldn't put it past EA to do both.

I bet it'll be one of those situations where $ = ? in the minds of the publishers and they'll just bump to US price 5 bucks.

battlefield 4 (EA) is $60 across all platforms in USA this fall, madden 25 is $60, etc so I don't know why some of you are jumping to odd conclusions. It may be that prices in UK are going to go higher, but that may have nothing to do with base MSRP but instead things like currency conversion.
