Yeah, but that is currently, all these years after the PS3 launch. There just is not going to be a large list of exclusives in November.
Absolutely there will be a build up time - probably 10-15 in the first year is a realistic expectation to keep.

Ut keeping the peasantry in line.

Dragons Crown was pretty cool though, so the consoles had that going for them.

Well, that's just PS3 games since I went pure X360 on cross-platform this last generation until this last summer. Like I said, over 90 *console* exclusives. Only a handful of those are X360-only games. That's a lot of Console games and more than just the 7-10 that Ut is saying is out there and not on the PC. Hell, and I stay away from a lot of genres. There were just about that many console-exclusive games in this last year alone. There's many hundreds of console-exclusive games out there.

Will it start off a little slow? Sure, especially since I'll still be buying PS3 games through next year as some of the companies I buy from won't be switching over yet. But it'll still be well worth it for me and I have no doubt that the PS4 will have a large library of console-exclusive games just like the X360/PS3 did.

^^^ Bingo. And in fact, 5 years into the systems release I would bet he may only see about 15 worth playing through. I dunno though, Sean likes that cartoon japanese shit or whatever it is. So that may be 20 including a yPhone. Either way, you are correct, and the money saved down the road from * not * gaining anything at all besides having a shiny new toy (And honestly, that's all people care about sometimes I suppose) at launch isn't worth it. The services consoles provide today have inflated, been bloated, and nickle and dimed. And the value has diminished greatly this gen. I would guess next gen may not even happen when Steam takes over the world with their home based invasion system. You think it has some cool features now?

A Steam PC powerful enough to run anything at much higher settings, in the living room, an ability to digitally trade games, movies, and what not with your friends (This is coming FYI) ... Everything you have seen Steam gone through has been one gigantic beta test for what's going to shift this market. And Sony and Microsoft are so fucking behind the 8-ball their ass is hitting the washing machine in the laundromat across the street from the pool bar.

I'm really not sure where you're getting all this "nickle and dime" shit from. PS+ is a great value and that is pretty undisputable no matter how much you want to stick your fingers in you ears and go "la la la".

Xbox Live Gold Sucks, sure. That's not in debate. This "nickle and dime" shit that you keep mentioning though? Where exactly is that aconsoleproblem? If you're talking about DLC and crap that is from all of the big publishers and happens in the exact same way on the PC. The only difference is you can go and commit IP Theft and pirate DLC easier on PC. I don't know about you, but I haven't pirated anything in a long fucking time.

Now lets not be silly and start calling all PC gamers IP thieves. I haven't downloaded a single game or dlc illegally since Steam.

/\/\ Neither have I Khalid. Great point.

Dear Sean,

PS Plus aside from the free games provides zero fucking value. You get 60 minute timed demos and access to some sales without the free games, and those free games aren't free when you are paying $49.99 a year and those "free" games have been $2.50 on Steam for the past 3 Steam sales. I could take that $49.99 and buy all those games on a Steam sale and still have 10 bucks for a 4 pack of Surly Furious and be treated to play a game with anti aliasing.

With more than 75% of the timed trial games having their own demo anyway.

I used to think the way you did, and you know I did because I would post about it. Now? I know better.

I did not mean that at all. I know most people here have long stopped that shit since Steam got big and started giving people a reason not to. I just have no fucking clue where he's pulling this "nickle and dime" crap from unless he's including pirating DLC as a PC bonus. Nothing is behind a paywall on the PS3, only MP is behind PS+ on the PS4 (not netflix, etc). He keeps saying that phrase, but he's not providing specifics.

Your numbers are bunk there. Please provide proof thatallof these games were $2.50 on steam when they were released on PS+. Also, many of the PS+ games are Console-Exclusives and not on Steam. Not to mention the huge added value if you have a Vita.

Someone list 360 exclusives
I feel like 360 got its exclusives early in the gen and then went to shit, whereas ps3 pretty much started out bad and then got a bunch of cool games around the time 360 had nothing going for it. 360 at launch and ps3 after pricedrops was the best strategy for me. Ps3 had the best showing in the long term (and the console I'm keeping) but for about four years there was almost nothing I wanted to play on it. I feel like getting one or the other was fine until it dropped in price. This gen I'm going to wait for pricedrops on both. I guess I just don't see the point in launch consoles anymore since it takes so long to build up a decent library.

360 exclusives I liked:

Ace combat 6: I'm a huge AC fan
Crackdown 1/2: one of the few open world style games I liked
Fable 2: Pretty cool for its time
Gears of war 2: Probably my favorite third person multiplayer game
Halo: Not a huge fan but I'm putting it here because It's pretty much the de facto dorm/party/shooter you play when around actual people. It's pretty much the only FPS I can tolerate playing multiplayer on a console
Lost odyssey: One of my fave rpgs this gen
Tales of vesperia: This is pretty much the only tales game I've really enjoyed. Haven't played xillia yet, but I will someday.
Operation darkness: This is a game pretty much everyone hated but I really liked. I like a lot of terrible strat rpgs though.
Perfect dark zero: Same as above, I played the shit out of it, and I think it's the most difficult FPS I've ever played. It's the only FPS from last gen that I felt accomplished when I finished it on the hardest mode.
Eternal sonata, Mass effect: Were exclusive for a pretty long time, and then went multiplat

Let's look at October's list.

Uncharted 3 - $12.99 used at Gamestop (Exclusive)
X-com - Steam sale $5.00. I bought it at full price on launch, but I remember the sales prices. PC. Long before it came out for free on PS Plus.
KOA - Amazon sale for $5.00 with all DLC. I bought it. PC - WAY long before now.
6 Indie games. How Fantastic.
Jet Set Radio - PC. $2.50 amazon sale - on sale now at Gamestop for 5.00.

Oddworld: this thing was an original Xbox title in 2003 BC, an HD passover (if that)... Yay?

Glad you have a Vita, because the only one on there worth a shit is Liberty City, and you can get that on Steam for $2.00 on sale. The only game that was worth it off here was Demon Souls. And by the time it came out the damn thing was 4 years old. Wait, I thought you said you didn't get a VITA because of the prices of memory cards? Did you buy one?

Honestly though, my biggest problem with consoles is FPSs. As much as I love GTA V, using a controller for fps just feels so shit. Maybe something like the steam controller will fix that for consoles in the near future, but right now any exclusive that is an FPS on console might as well not exist for me, since it ruins the gameplay for me.

We should not pay to "go online" in any console.
I agree, but it's something we have to deal with and at least on the PS4 we'll get a large amount of "free" games from it. Hopefully this will at least bring about more dedicated servers.

Tol: The X360 had an amazingly strong first couple years for exclusives, that's for sure. It's the main reason that I went with it over the PS3 and it was years into the generation before I bought one. Sadly after those first couple years Microsoft decided that "LOL Halo, Gears, and Forza" were enough and totally dropped trying to get exclusives. Letting Mistwalker go was a huge mistake, especially since they haven't done anything of note since working on the X360.

This is all one of the main reasons that I'm going with the PS4 at the start of this generation, Microsoft is going to have to work really hard with exclusive content to earn my purchase again. I have faith that Sony and its partners will continue to put out a lot of exclusives that I want to buy. I have no such faith in Microsoft what so ever.

Great, now go back month by month for the past year since it started. Also going "lol indies" is pretty sad dude.

Yeah, I bought Tarrant's Vita for $150.

I would definitely not own a console if it was not for my kids. But if you have kids, you will probably have a console of some sort because all their buddies have one and they all wanna play together.

I have 2 modern PCs in my house one in one living room and the other in the family room. This provides all the entertainment that I ever need. couple this with my $90 blue ray player which provides netflix, hulu and hbo go, I have absolutely no need for consoles. As far as the games, the best of the best come to PC anyway eventually so I dont give a shit about "exclusives".
Actually my younger son does not even play on the xbox, he is smart like his daddy and likes to PC game. Anything from the 30 or so steam games that I got for like $10, to some of the bigger ones I pirated or bought all they way down to indie games like minecraft.
