Way to put words in my mouth a_skeleton_03, I never called anyone a moron in any of the conversations about it. I said XBLG sucks and that's it.

I think it's extremely questionable to find value in it and only paid for it out of necessity, not because I wanted to or because it offered me anything in return that other services didn't already do for free. It also sucks that MP is going to require PS+ on the PS4 and I think that's totally unnecessary (unless they force a dedicated server policy because of it), but at least they're giving me alotof "free" games in return which does take the sting off of it a bit.

XBLG did start offering a whole2free games a month this summer, but only for the X360 and it ends in December and they haven't said anything about continuing the program past that and haven't said anything about extending the service to the Xbone. They need to get on top of that shit and match PS+ in value and drop the Paywall requirements on all the shit it definitely should never have been on like Netflix.

A Steam PC powerful enough to run anything at much higher settings, in the living room, an ability to digitally trade games, movies, and what not with your friends (This is coming FYI) ... Everything you have seen Steam gone through has been one gigantic beta test for what's going to shift this market. And Sony and Microsoft are so fucking behind the 8-ball their ass is hitting the washing machine in the laundromat across the street from the pool bar.

Who the fuck wants Windows running on their living room setup? There's a reason htpcs have never caught on. Saying the only reason to get consoles is to have a shiny new toy is completely wrong. The barriers of entry and usability are MILES between for consoles vs pcs.

I am not saying this specific conversation, I am saying in general. It isn't a bad stance to have either. I know I have more money than sense at times.

I agree SteamOS is promising and exactly what's been needed for a long time (hopefully the hardware can help accommodate their vision). I was taking issue with Ut saying there's no reason to buy a console other than a shiny new toy. I agree with the rest of his post.

He is talking about Steam as the reason for that and I am pretty sure he is excited about SteamOS and kind of what he is talking about here. I think.

I can turn on my PC from being completely off and be playing a game quicker than I can turn on my 360 and be playing GTA5. It's actually not even close.

Windows PCs are easier to use and more user friendly than ever before.

I've called people various slanderous names before (and often and repeatedly), but never for using XBLG. It's an unfortunate necessity that we are stuck with. Though hopefully Microsoft takes enough of a blow this next generation that they are forced to up their service values to be on par with or better than Sony's.

I think that one thing that people are leaving out is that, right now, PS+ has been completely optional. It is a premium service that is not required in the least for the PS3 and it's totally up to the user to buy into. It's going to remain that way for the PS3 as well. Yes, it's changing for the PS4 and Multiplayer (and *only* multiplayer), but that's not here yet. None of ushadto buy into it for the PS3, but we did, because we liked what we saw. If you don't like what you've gotten from the service over the past year then that is unfortunate for you and it was a poor $50 investment on your part, but a completely optional one none-the-less. I, however, feel like I have gotten far more than the $50 I have put into it (especially since I own a Vita).

To the best of my knowledge, multiplayer requires the premium service. I don't even think publishers can opt out of it and offer free multiplayer.

However, if you only plan on going as far as the PS3, it is purely a luxury purchase. It is not and will never be needed to play your games the way they are meant to be played. (PS3 only)

Thanks. Haven't been keeping up with the PS4 news. I just found out they partnered up with TwitchTV for live streaming and my Astro A40s can be used with the system. This makes me happy.

Although do keep in mind, they did make sure that publishers won't do Online Passes anymore either - so traded/Gamefly MP games will actually be much cheaper since you won't have online pass bullshit.

I mean if you buy the 12 month card at a Best Buy or something you usually get between 1-3 months for free. The $60 a year is for auto-sub suckers.
