Yesterday some Reddit users reported that Microsoft had banned their accounts for "past behavior" making use of Skype and Upload Studio impossible. We reached out to Microsoft for comment on the matter.

"To be clear, the Xbox Live Policy & Enforcement team does not monitor direct peer-to-peer communications like Skype chats and calls," a Microsoft representative told Game Informer via email. "Also, we take Code of Conduct moderation via Upload Studio very seriously. We want a clean, safe and fun environment for all users. Excessive profanity as well as other Code of Conduct violations will be enforced upon and result in suspension of some or all privileges on Xbox Live. We remain committed to preserving and promoting a safe, secure and enjoyable experience for all of our Xbox Live members."

Without monitoring peer-to-peer Skype calls, there is no way that Microsoft could have banned anyone for foul language in that app. However, users would do well to keep voice overs on uploaded clips clean. Foul language there can get you suspended and, possibly, banned.

If they're monitoring skype calls and parsing text/audio at all (much less banning people) yeah that's really disconcerting. But it's more likely someone showed their dick on a stream and is now trying to bullshit their way back onto Xbox live.

Well, considering the ban was App specific, they pretty much *have* to be monitoring Skype.

MS is monitoring Skype for NSA and co since like forever, why would anyone think they wouldnt do the same for the Xboner with an automated rickshaw script?

For PS4 its a good system. No issues with mine. Launch library of games is very meh. Knack and Killzone didn't really draw me. I bought the season pass for Call of Duty and Premium for Battlefield 4 to keep me playing while I wait for the Spring release of games.

If there's something you want to play on them right now, then get them. If there's not anything you want to play, then wait till there is.

If you play primarily console games for multiplatform then the PS4 is a big upgrade over the PS3 & X360 and you should definitely get one asap. If you play just exclusives then wait until there's something you want.

There's no "kinks" in the PS4 when it comes to gameplay stuff and the Twitch Streaming feature is great. It is lacking some Multimedia features that will be patched in soon, but that's about it. The UI is clean and easy to use and it's a very strong system. No reason to wait if there's stuff you want to play.

Pretty good response. Free Microsoft Studios published launch game if you're affected, not sure what all games fall under that though.

Game Informer - A First Look At Bloober Team's Dark Take On Bomberman

Bloober Team has released the first screenshots from Basement Crawl, one of the numerous downloadable indie games set to arrive on the PlayStation 4.

In the game, players use traps and explosives to fight each other within one of the nine maze-like arenas. There are four classes to choose from, each with their unique play style and weapons. The characters and setting are disturbingly dark. Bloober Team has defined Basement Crawl as a macabre version of the classic Bomberman gameplay.

The game also puts great emphasis on multiplayer, allowing a maximum of four local players and eight players online. Standard online features like leaderboards, ranks, and party chat are available.

Basement Crawl does not have a concrete release date, but Bloober Team plans to make the 2013 PS4 launch window.

This Bomberman clone looks terrible. Camera angle + light effects = seeing jack shit in a kind of game where seeing clearly the situation is key.

lot of ps4 and xbone games are $49 on amazon at the moment, saw at least AC4 NFS Ryse at that price (but not killzone, weirdly)

Played around with SmartGlass integration last night and it's certainly a good feature if you have a tablet (not sure how useful it woudl be on a phone) that can be handy for the little things.

1. Using it for typing in codes or messages. I've got a chatpad for the 360 and was annoying as hell trying to type things out using the onscreen keyboard with controller, this will save time
2. Using it as remote control for video content, especially scrubbing forwards and back. Yes, you can do this with the controller as well but it gives you more fine-grain control
3. Companion apps for games. This was great while playing Ryse, being given a timeline of how far through the level I am and where acheivements and collectibles are in relation to that makes things actually less grindy since I don't need to scourge every inch of a zone any more if it tells me there is nothing around me but add in the fact that each one then links off to a video that shows you how to get the achievement or where the collectible is and it's awesome. It's not really any different to going to gamefaqs or youtube for the info but it's faster and I know that, at least for me, if I'm frustrated to the point I want to look this shit up then I want the info now and not searching through reams of videos on YT
4. Exclusive game content. In DR3 if you are running the SmartGlass app one of the characters in game will contact you on it and give extra missions that won't pop up in game otherwise.

I'm really liking the current things it can do and what it's potential is, if things like The Division use tablets in the same way (and hopefully Sony will create something similar for the PS4) then having one sitting next to you while gaming will be as normal as having to have a controller to play.

PS4 can use tablets/phones in the exact same way. The Vita can also be used for the second screen companion apps.

Ahhh yeah, totally flaked on Vita and remote play, that's an even better integration and good to know PS4 has similar to SmartGlass.....hopefully I get to play with it before next year :/

Apparently my alert thing told me (I was out at a board gaming evening and only checked the blurb briefly) that Gamestop has Xbox One bundles in stop for ~5 hrs or so now. $680 for Console, extra controller, Ryse and Dead Rising 3.

Not discounted at all, but not gouged either if you're planning to get the two most interesting titles on the system. Not getting one yet myself unless I get desperate from PS4's not showing, but data for someone else that might be amped for Xbone that didn't P/O.
