I haven't really enjoyed much off PS+ lately since I sold my PS3. The only PS4 offering I really liked and still play from time to time was Don't Starve. Otherwise its been meh.

Now if I had not sold my PS3 I'd be swimming in shit to play but in a few more months it really won't matter since the real games will be getting released soon enough.

Regardless one of those Indies will be the next Minecraft at some point and it will be all worth while.

PS4 still not having DLNA is such a fail. Even worse, they aren't even talking about it. I built an HTPC this weekend, so I don't really care about DLNA any more, but it should have been a day 1 feature on both systems.

If Tomb Raider is truly a boner exclusive it will be one of the dumbest decisions I've ever seen. Not a console seller at all.. man my wife is gonna be rip-shit.

Microsoft will later add the capacity to stream media from a network-based home media server that supports DLNA protocols. The Xbox One "will support more formats than Xbox 360," according to Microsoft. Compatibility with formats such as MKV, animated GIF and MPEG-2 TS will be added to the Media Player app "by the end of the year."

This is HUGE imo and something I have been eagerly waiting for. If they can get this out the door before PS4 offers pull DLNA support (I think they were saying early 2015?) that will be a nice win for MS.

It was a stupid omission on Sony's part and good for Microsoft for pushing for it on the One. Doesn't matter to me much since I'm using my router and attached drive for my DLNA / network storage needs. Since we upgraded to smart TV's everywhere in the house the need for my console or Roku to do the works is nil.

Neither system had it at launch, they incorrectly predicted what consumers wanted and they both lost. It's just that MS is rolling it out first (maybe).

I care not which system has it, i just want one of them to give me a reason to turn them on - Sure i have smart TVs but i need a reason for these dam systems i bought :p The TVs are all already directly connected to PCs too so its not like that even matters either but its derpy for the last gen's to have what the current gens do not ya know?

I doubt we ever see backwards compatibility again. With all the money to be made with Definitive Edition games and previous gen streaming services which can garner a monthly fee in addition to PS+ / Gold I just don't see either company passing up milking that cow.

The Streaming thing is pretty clearly going to be a long term replacement at the least, yea - not sure because of the profitability (no idea on the costs to be frank) - simply because of the ease of maintaining the product, no reprogramming or compatibility issues because the program is running on its designed hardware is a huge plus that makes it trivial for them to do without dozens of caveats and complaints over the rare incompatible title and no additional hardware costs for stuff that a minority of users take advantage of. [Because whether or not you and I fall in the "play last gen" demographic - most people once they switch eventually leave the old entirely behind]

XXEXX: I agree with that, but since both were without and both are getting it roughly the same time its not really "news" to me. And we already knew PS4 was on track for Q1 for everything maybe slightly before for music.

Its a bit fucked - ive never ever thought about buyin a previous gen system when the newer shit comes out regardless of what fuckin games they release for it. Im sure some do but i just cant see myself doing it. I bought 2 of each new system just to have one in each room. Tho i regret it a bit because the very small selection of games out, it would have been nice if they had backwards compatibility so i could have played beyond 2 souls.

In theory theyd have got more money out of me if they had backwards compatibility since id still be buying previous gen games for my newer systems but since they dont i do not and i dont keep any of the older systems around anymore either.

I think your "dump the old systems immediately" thing is likely in the minority though. Think on here (with tons of hardcores) there's been one other person in the same boat from what I've seen quoted.

Oh im sure - i just get rid of shit asap once i move on - i dont have the room to keep around everything i upgrade - I could make room but i like to keep things a certain way - So as soon as i preordered my new systems i traded in my old ones before gamestop was flooded with them and reduced the trade value - plus i had a bonus 50% coupon so i got quite a bit for it all.

Well, it's releasing on the PC as well if that helps, but I haven't bought a single person game on the PC since probably Civ 4 so I won't go out of the way to play it
