I'm just not aboard the hype train. NMS to me looks like someone built a really nice engine and that's it
Isn't that what 99% of most games are, a really nice engine with a few aspects of gameplay?I'm just not aboard the hype train. NMS to me looks like someone built a really nice engine and that's it
Look I understand why people are intrigued, just to me it does nothing. I like the concept, but I probably wouldn't play it.Isn't that what 99% of most games are, a really nice engine with a few aspects of gameplay?
You are right. People didn't explore their 300th randomly seeded Minecraft world. People aren't STILL playing Skyrim today even though that isn't randomly generated. The big question with No Man's Sky is how you will feel exploring your 10th planet. Will it be "I wonder what new and surprising things I'll find there?" or will it be "I wonder what slightly different flavor of bland I'll get this time?"
I understand people still play those, but I don't think normal people do. I had fun in Skyrim, beat the story, explored a bit, and that was it. The guys that are still playing have something wrong with them. Something sick. You are right. People didn't explore their 300th randomly seeded Minecraft world. There are indeed alien factions who war with each other. You can take sides and trade with them from what I understand.I dunno, looking back at what made Minecraft not as fun as it could have been was the lack of procedural civilizations. Is NMS going to go that far? Part of the appeal to me would be TNG style serial encounters on each thing, sometimes just plants and animals, sometimes, aggressive expansionist aliens with superior technology you run from and hope to outsmart and ultimately overtake.
Is there any sort of coop then like Minecraft? If so it could prove to be extremely fun. There are indeed alien factions who war with each other. You can take sides and trade with them from what I understand.
While you exist in the same Universe as other players, I don't think they've built in any social tools at all. Like... not even chat. And the universe is so big, and you start out spread so far apart, that you may never encounter another player unless you intentionally try to by communicating outside of the game.Is there any sort of coop then like Minecraft?
