Otto korrect, or text to speech?

"choir" instead of require really makes me think text to speech.
Season 6 Episode 3 GIF by Parks and Recreation

Sorry I tried to go back through and scrub and fix my posts but when I'm just kind of rambling about stuff a lot of the times I do I guess it's kind of fun to see just how bad stuff turns out. I honestly know how to write, but the goofy phone really does odd things at times, and it shocks me just how bad it doesn't transcribe stuff correctly.

I find it comical that someone would text 2 speech something that long. As if it's your sexretary who will spend the rest of the day making sense of your word salad. It does a pretty good job with rambling.

Sometimes I'll type out everything, but then when I'm having a brainstorm, I'll do talk to text, and that's when the magic happens!

It's surprising what transcribes appropriately. And I can sit and repeat it over and over and it will not ever get it correct, so fuck it. Whatever I can laugh, and I am a retarded doctor...😉

I forgot about the doctor thing. If it's real and anyone complains about the text 2 speech, you can offer to handwrite the next message and promise it will make even less sense.

Even if it's not, you can still use that response online wherever you use that moniker.

The differences between 5e 2014 and 5e 2024 are bonkers and causing all sorts of issues on places like dndbeyond. Now they have to have 'Legacy' versions of classes and spells for people who can't or don't want to use the 2024 versions.

Why not just call it 6e? That would be far far less confusing to new players than the current situation.

Is it all the DEI shit that are the changes, or is it legitimate errata?

It's not errata...it's wholesale massive changes to classes + spells + core game concepts. There are fewer changes between 3.5e and 5e than there are between 5e 2014 and 5e 2024

How bad is I don't necessarily keep up with it, and I guess the last campaign my buddies and I were playing was original edition of 5e. I also know it's way different than 3.5 because we ran a bunch of those way back in the day, and I like fibey because it kind of streamlined stuff.

What exactly did they change?

All characters get subclasses at 3rd level
All stat bonuses come from Background rather than species and is in the form of +2 to one stat and +1 to another or +1 to each of three stats
Every character gets a feat at level 1 from the 'Origin Feat' category
All feats include +1 to a stat making it much more likely to take a normal feat at level 4 rather than just +2 stats
Most every class has abilities at different levels than they did before
All weapons now have an associated Weapon Mastery type that is roughly akin to the extra shit you got for each weapon in BG3
Clarification / changes to how Actions, Reactions, Bonus Actions work. Action Surge cannot be used for a Magic action thus eliminating the 'dip into fighter' to cast two spells in a round.
Changes to how Heroic Inspiration works, how Advantage and Surprise work, changes to monsters and how actions work (no more Legendary actions)
Changes to how healing works, how potions work (healing potions are explicitly a bonus action), how short and long rests interact with various class features.

Basically the only things that are entirely the same is that you roll a d20 to do stuff and you have hit points.

That sounds pretty major. has anyone done a writeup with a breakdown of the differences?

Wow, that's some big changes.

Thanks for the write up.

That's not even all of it... You can find a decent .pdf of the PHB if you look in the usual places.

After reading through the 2024 players handbook. This 100% should have just been 6e.

A lot of the changes are just so weird to.
Like are orcs a player class now? i read the description of of "orc" and boy do they seem like nice native americzn folk now. What happened to the evil war hungry brutes?

And since they are now nice guys. What's replacing them as evil hordes or fodder in the over world?

I question are drow now also nice and now letting men not be slaves?

If it tracks with the Forgotten Realms lore there is a hidden enclave of "good" drow in the far north. Menzobarrenzan is still definitely evil.

I don't have any usual places. What are they calling this one? "5e new players handbook pdf" is only bringing up the old one.

I'm surprised they didn't include tashas and xanathars subclasses and spells in this book. I thought they were all considered official sources.

Just read through bard since that's what I'm playing and I see a fairly major difference in Bardic inspiration. 5e says it lasts 10 minutes and specifically says you have to decide to use the inspiration before you know the result of the roll. 2024e says it lasts an hour and specifically says you can decide to use it after you know whether you passed or failed.

They also changed the second expertise from level 10 to level 9 for some reason. I'm a creation bard and they didn't revamp that, so I didn't go any further.

I gotta say that I like the layout of 2024e better. As a still new player, it's easier to follow and find information. I appreciate that they mentioned feats in the ASI section. The 5e book does not. You have to go to that chapter to find the rulethat you can take a feat instead of ASI.
