Permanently dominate? Never.
There were some items from various settings in previous editions that would allow you to 'use' a sentient weapon, without having to come into conflict with it. The glove for Charon's Claw comes to mind. But they all had drawbacks of their own/prevented you from accessing the full power of the weapon.
You will have to work with the sword or keep butting heads with it until it eventually consumes your personality and then you ARE the sword OR it betrays you at the worst possible moment and ends up in the hands of your worst enemy, unless you and the DM work something out on the side.
