I genuinely hope the guy gets another chance.

Okay, he will never be as accomplished as a Brady or Brees but what he has is heart and that already makes him better than most active QBs. He really is actively trying to improve his game since being out and hasn't instead just blamed everyone else and moped into obscurity.

I think I much rather try out Tebow rather than say Manziel, Smith, Hoyer. Heck, how can he do worse than RG3 or Cutler last year?

I'm with you if we're talking like hyperbole or just non factually about heart over skill... but when it comes to the real world I completely disagree with this assessment.

If Tebow were to be signed as a backup QB, I truly believe there would be no worse QB in the league than him.

The hyperbole over the 49ers is pretty ridiculous. They went 8-8 in arguably the best division in football. Major injuries at some key spots and a few 4th quarter implosions away from being the possible #1 seed. They flat out gave away the games to the Bears, Chargers, and Cardinals.

The Borland thing definitely sucks, but people seriously need to slow down on "the sky is falling" narrative. "WORST OFFSEASON OF ALL TIME FOREVER!!". The 2008 Lions and about 50 other offseasons might have something to say about that.
lol. For starters, any division with the Rams is not the best division in football, and there is no arguably about it. Secondly, lmao @ WE COULD HAVE BEEN FIRST SEED IF WE WON SEVERAL MORE GAMES.

Something I've come to embrace is that good teams don't let themselves get into close games. Statistically speaking, it's pretty much 50/50 if the scores are within a TD of each other. That holds true for even consistently good teams like the Patriots. So it's a bit of a fallacy to embrace something like "They were in a lot of close games" as evidence that they could have done better. The truth is that if they were the better team, they wouldn't have been in that place to begin with. Believe me, I spent 3 years holding that line, deluding myself into believing it could have been better.

What imo separated the good teams from the great teams IS the ability to win the close ones.

the teams that can get that stop on D to win the game, the team that can with sub 2 minutes left..get down the field and score those points necessary for the win, be it a FG or a TD ...most of the time.

sometimes the great teams play OTHER great teams... then its...can your Defense, stop MY offense and vice versa at the end.

take this past superbowl, two great teams. BOTH defenses could not "regularly" stop the other teams offense, however, at the end of the day, one team had to win, and that was the team that made The Key Play to win the game. stupid call by seattle? maybe, maybe not-overall MOST of the time-(like 99%) that play is a TD or an incomplete pass..this time, the defender- butler- recognized the play from film, Brown, recognized the play from film- locked the front receiver in a block- allowing butler to sprint to position and make the play to win. it was glorious.

I agree. Even the Redskins who are always awful are 90% of the time within a touchdown (and actually, usually a field goal).

I think what separates the good teams from bad is rosters spots 23-53. While the star players from 1-22 are important, it's really when one of them goes down whether you have adequate depth to play at a consistent level. Using the Redskins again, this is the area where we're terrible. Our starters are usually pretty damn good (quarterback notwithstanding), but once they start going down it all begins falling apart.

NFC West is without a doubt one of the better divisions. I would say they are arguably the best division in the NFL. Every division has a bottom dweller. Raiders, Browns, Jets, etc. Rams are one of the better bottom dwellers out there.

Looking like the AFCE may no longer be a laughing stock. However, consider the starting QBs in addition to the big name FAs

1. Tom Brady
2. Geno Smith
3. Matt Cassell
4. Ryan Tannehill

Teams 2 & 3 got notably better... at every position except QB.

Maybe the AFCE is still a shitshow aside of the Patriots, but we shall see.

I mainly just wanted to make fun of the Rams, but I forgot there aren't any Rams fans who post here. I agree that they are one of the best divisions, but the Niners were a shitshow either way. Only way the Niners would have made the playoffs last year was if you gave them the Patriots spot in the AFC East.

Competition Committee announces 2015 rule proposals | ProFootballTalk

Pretty much want all of the replay/review stuff and I can not believe it's taken so long to add cameras to key places but at least it should get done finally.
What do they mean by this:

Allow a "bonus try" after a two-point conversion.
I like this, but just make it a full regular rules extra quarter of play already FFS:

Guarantee both teams a possession in overtime.

In all honesty if Foles works out for the Rams I can see the NFC West being a 3 pony race next year. The past couple of years their defense has rivaled the other 3 in the division its been their offense that has held them down. Mostly at the QB position.

Well there would have to be a brand new officiating crew for the entire NFL for the Rams to have any chance at the playoffs.

I know right? I seriously doubt "The Buffalo News" is even a publication in the Buffalo area and if it were would they really have that type of content in there on every page? Pathetic.
That part was true and accurate.

Signed Greg Hardy. Nice! (Assuming he isn't suspended which he 100% will because Goodell is Mara's bitch)

Only a $2.6 million cap hit too. Great contract.
