I mean, it's funny to say, but it's not automatic. A penalty, Lynch getting stopped (he was stuffed on a 3rd and 1 in the red zone earlier in the game), a fumble (which was statistically more likely than an interception if you looked at every time a team passed or ran a ball from the 1 yard line all season)...common logic and "no fucking shit" say Beast Mode would have pounded it in with ease and we'd have back to back champs, but you never know.

Shit the more I see that picture of the coverage and what Wilson saw just as he was starting to throw the ball, I would have bet 999 times out of 1000 it's either the game winning TD or an incomplete pass.

This. I dont think anyone would argue that it was a good play call. But at the same time, I almost feel like the debate over the call takes away from the undrafted rookie who made one of the biggest plays in the history of the super bowl.

Edit - also Brady's first pick was also well inside the red zone, and was much less open and a far worse decision. It just didnt end the game.

Yeah I don't think Butler gets enough credit for just making an incredible read and play enough because like you said everyone is focused on the "JUST HAND IT OFF TO LYNCH WTF".

This point keeps getting lost. This wasn't a Larry Brown interception. Here are the steps:

He sprinted and beat his man to the spot.
As he is making the catch he takes a big bump against his head to the point you can see his helmet shift from the impact.
Then caught it against his right shoulder while is body was contorted. The ball isn't completely secured and looks it is about to pop out.
He juggles it for a split second before he secures it with two hands. How many times have we seen INTs dropped at that point?
His momentum carried him back into the endzone. Right foot was 3 inches from the goaline and his body and the ball was in the endzone.
He never falls down and stays upright so his knees never touch the ground.
He recovered and pushed forward so there wasn't any arguments for a safety vs touchback if he got tackled in the endzone.

Every week someone drops an interception that is 10% of the difficulty. Turn it around; if Butler was the WR going for a catch and gets hit from a DB like that you see WRs drop the ball all the time. Yet Butler held on.

Man, I've been listening to Seattle sports talk today and to hear it from Seahawks fans they are going to be stacked next year! First Russell Wilson is going to get his $20+ mil a year but it will be a super-duper cap friendly deal. Also Ndamukong Suh and Larry Fitzgerald are going to sign as free agents for cheap because Seattle is an awesome place to play and they want rings (more than money apparently). Then they are going to use all money they are saving with Wilson magic cap-friendly deal plus getting Suh and Fitz on the cheaps to sign Greg Hardy.

In reality there is no way Suh is going to be a Seahawks player next year unless we are willing to let Wagner and Maxwell become free agents which I hope the team isn't willing to do. Maxwell is probably gone because we have ot redo Wagner's and Wilson's deal. But both of them are more important than Suh.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure of the context but I'm sure Suh was asked something like "would you like to play on Seattle's defense?" and he responded with something like "yeah, sure" and now Seattle fans all think he is coming to town.

If they sign that much high priced talent they would lose even more depth then they are already going to. Seattle has been good because they had loads of cheap talent. That's ending. They wont be as good going forward unless they can avoid huge cap hits and replace talent on the cheap. Other teams are going to raid the shit out of Seattle's roster.

I think Denver is much better off giving Peypey one more chance for an Elwayian exit rather than rolling with Osweiler. Why waste that receiving corps on a throwaway year?

Well, the Thomas' are both free agents and some one will likely want to pay them. So do you keep this band together again? What's Manning's cap hit, its a big one isn't it? How can they afford to keep talent around him?

Peypey's cap hit is $21.5mil but they should have around $25mil in cap space with him. I'm guessing they franchise D. Thomas at $12-$13 mil leaving them about another $12mil to play with (some of which would need to be used to sign draft picks) for the 2015 season.

It would be pretty safe to backload a deal or two figuring on freeing up the cap space Peypey is taking up in 2016.
