I will say this, this thread brought quite a few new posters that love to just post here and usually only in a positive/pr light.
For every one post you see from a professional shill there are hundreds made by people who just look forward the game but regurgitate the PR speak so much they look like shills.

Before the shill talk starts again (I read that in past pages), I'm going to point out two things: First, I don't shy away from saying what's disappointing or criticizing ZMO. If it's outright obviously, undeniably, objectively bad or bull, then I'll call it like it is. Second, I'm not a new poster. I was on the old FoH forums too. What the hoof, man?

edit: I'm not regurgitating PR speak either. I don't know how much of this is directed at me. I'm posting my honest impression and predictions.

Signati how many copies do you think TESO will sell in the first month and how long before it goes F2P?

As best as can be done in an MMO trying to copy WoW and SWToR as much as possible with few talented developers or management. A persistent Skyrim multiplayer server with ~1000 people in it would still be an MMO but would be much more fun and long lived.

The saving grace of TESO is the PVP. All the rest is boring and rough.
I like it rough and boring

I know that physical preorders sold out, but I don't know if the core of people interested have already bought in. So, I can't make predictions about the first month. A better question would be, "How many people will re-up for the second month?" Exactly as many as the number who didn't decide ahead of time that they won't do so, minus those who by some ill turn of fate suddenly can't play.

How long before F2P? I'll say seven years. The *only* people who can change that are Blizzard. So, what are they up to these days?

All the rest between levels 1 and 15, you mean? That's hardly "all the rest". People who judged EQ by that standard went nowhere. We could say that they didn't really even play it.

I don't see how it copies WoW and SWTOR. Comparing the PvP to DAoC would make a lot more sense. But WoW? Group dynamics are different, classes are different, progression is different, the narrative, PvP, itemization, and artistic style are all different. WoW and SWTOR were not the first games to use a hotbar, which is the only real commonality that I see.

Warcraft was a RTS turned into a MMORPG. Anything lost in translation (like the actual fucking War part) was mostly not missed because the two genres are so different.

TOR was coop KOTOR to a fault. Lengthy dialog in group missions, God Fucking Dammit.

ESO is a 3D action RPG being turned into a 3D action MMORPG. Anything lost in translation is a HUGE GLARING OMISSION. Even things that can't possibly work in a MMO environment.

Not judging, just saying there's a considerable difference when it comes to use of the IP.

Since PC, Xbox and PS4 players will all be kept separate from one another, I can see ESO having different subscription models for PC players and console players at some point. The argument I have heard is that the console gamers are not likely to pay a monthly subscription because that is not how the console world operates. Fine by me. The PC players will pay for faster content patches, bug fixes, addon support, customer service etc and the console players can just pay for DLC every 3 months.

Has anyone seen a negative review yet by anyone that has passed level 15 and got into the 30+ levels? I know that Angry Joe faggot ended up really liking the PVP in his second review.

It seems to me that the only people talking badly about the game always preface by saying, "played 3 hours and quit game sucks" or "got to level 15 game sucks uninstall".

The morons paying Microsoft for LIVE for years disagree with this point.

I do think they'd be smarter to do a different pricepoint than 15/mo. I think 60/year would be better. Then again, people pay for WOW for years and years with very little new content, so maybe there's room for the 15/mo model still.

And when someone says "oh you just need to play into the mid game or late game" people blast them with "game should be fun from the get go" or "I shouldn't have to wait to x level to have fun".

It's very interesting watching the flow and give of this forum.

Skyrim with 1000+ players would be absolutely awesome. I really hope that TES VI has some kind of multiplayer (at least like Borderlands). That said, it would not work as a MMO. When one Dovakiin can fart and wipe out a village, how do you make content for 1000 of them?

What little I understand of it shows that TES doesn't easily convert to multiplayer. There have been a few attempts at it since Oblivion, and it has always had massive show-stopping problems. It will take an entry in the franchise being designed with this in mind from the ground up for it to work.

I kind of hope that console players get a F2P model if they want it. That's the most sensible way to implement both for the microtransaction revenue, and regular updates and decent support that come with a sub model. Plus then everybody could say "I told you so" no matter what stance they took in the debate.

I'll see you guys in Skyrimx1000, just be sure your body is ready to take the following grief:

- 50+ Dead bodies stacked against your house door where you logged out (You get stuck in a pile of bodies when you load into town)
- Every night you have to find a new horse because yours got stolen
- Every barrel in your house gets looted
- Your house door is somehow always lockpicked
- You go outside and get pk'ed before you're done loading
- A distinct over-abundance of Candles EVERYWHERE making it the brightest game ever played (Candle Grief get)
- An infinite amount of iron chestplates littered everywhere, so when you walk into them they deal a small amount of damage to you.
- Merchants in town never have any stock on them (Camped on server reset)
- No loot in dungeons (Camped on Server Reset)
- All Houses already purchased

Skyrim 1000 is just a grief magnet, completely unsustainable as an MMO in it's single player form.

You're better off just going and joining a LARP Club shouting Fus Ro Da every time you fight your 135lb nemesis if you want skyrim1000

I agree with your points, but The Dread Lord Gecko would still enjoy playing in it.

I'll only play skyrim1000 if they hook it up to an Oculus Rift and a Treadmill+NerfBat combo, so I don't have to go outside to LARP, this would also double as the cure to childhood obesity (which is important as I require some kind of RL relevance from my videogame time)

Is PVP only in the Cyrodiil area or will I be able to kill people while I'm out questing in a dungeon?

You and I have never, ever? Seen eye to eye I do not think. But this post right here makes me love you. What you are saying is true, and as long as management sees it, acknowledges that, than there is no reason for me to be on my soapbox.

I also think that Gecko is just a guy that just wants to like a game in the genre. He is a guy that's been around here forever, and when I see him post, I see a guy that just likes certain things about a game and wants to play it. The big key portion here is, he also acknowledges the faults, but sees it for what it is. If other posters did that, that's fine. But we can all tell when some other posters come in here and deflect everything known to man, such as fire existing and they would say we are full of it, and that's when those things just need to be put to rest.

I also like Tuco. Believe it or not.
