drummer is the main character in the telltale expanse video game that came out last year too, i haven't played it yet but have it on my xbox and pc when i get some free time. seems to be regarded as pretty good
also the actor who plays Amos and one of the Expanse authors has a long running podcast now where they covered the show for a while but now just shoot the shit about anything, its pretty entertaining to listen to since both love 80s action movies like Conan, Predator, Die Hard, etc. Wes Chatham talked recently about his experiences being on Ahsoka and it was kinda interesting, he plays Thrawn's right hand adjunct

the two authors released a new series/book this year and they have made a deal to develop a show with Amazon.
The book is ok, I'm sure there is a thread in the book forum but its nowhere near as good as The Expanse, at least yet. The characters are pretty boring. But it is a very interesting setting and could be very, very cool in a Mass Effect kinda way.

Some of the show changes were just the reality of TV: you don't have to pay a salary to a character you make in a book, so you combine characters when you adapt to TV.
The only huge change I had an issue with was killing off Alex because the RL stuff going on with the actor

Yeah he was my second favorite actor on the show. Instead we got much more nonsense from that ugly lesbian from doctor who. God I was hoping she was dead when she pulled the princess leia maneuver, but no. She gets to be even more insufferable if they ever have another season.

Actress aside, all that stuff was in the books. The books were setup in each chapter to be the POV of a specific character, like the Game of Thrones books do. Naomi was POV and basically it served as a plot device to see what was going on with Marcos and the other Belters in his army. In the next book they had a different character serve as POV for the Marcos stuff
