The Expanse is a multi-media masterpiece of modern science fiction. The novels and short stories are nothing short of brilliance. The TV adaptation is different but (other than a slow start out of the gate) it is also a singular, unique and wonderful work.

I agree. The books are fantastic, and I was extremely happy with the show, other than them doing some Jackie stuff in the last one and a half seasons or whatever. I'm just disappointed that we'll never get to see everything come to a final conclusion.

Amos has one of the best lines, from all media, ever.
"I am that guy."

Shove your toxic masculinity bullshit up your ass, Libs. That's how a real man thinks/acts when the time comes.

Even in the books you knew what was coming next, but it was such a great scene. Not only because the evil scientist dude got his comeuppance, but the fact Amos realized Prax doing this would have emotionally eaten Prax alive

That scene is by far my favorite scene in the show, and one of the best period. It's more than just what you said though, it's preceded by Prax introducing Amos as his best friend to his daughter and telling her to go with him. It's Amos realizing that Prax really considers him a friend. Then as you said coming to the realization that this would damage Prax and he can save his friend by stopping him and doing it himself.

It somehow encompass everything that Amos is, and has been through in his life in 1 scene, very powerful stuff.

Thomas Jane. The show was amazing with him in it. Really dropped off afterwards.
You can't be serious. I liked background belters better than him. All of them. I nearly started fast forwarding through his scenes.

I guess you're talking about the actor though and not the character? You must have really loved him in boogie nights?

I really like this show season 1 and maybe part of season 2. When it goes full extraterrestrial and they start doing other shit, it lost me. I'm sure the book is to blame, but this was great as a gritty near-future sci-fi and ultimately got ruined by turning into alien goo shit.

I felt just the opposite. The alien stuff along with the Martian espionage I thought was great.

All the commie belter garbage later I didn't like. It was still a fun show I just didn't like any of the belters. I liked the space Mormons more than them. I really couldn't stand the old Indian lady that talks like she's got a 3 pack a day cigarette habit either.

The martian stuff was fine, but that could have been done without the goo turning into muh 'end the universe' threat and portal to alien homeworld bs. I agree the belters were kind of obnoxious, not sure if they are the 'good faction' in the books, but I kind of took it in the show that they were just more sympathetic at times, not necessarily good.

Belters in the books are basically the exploited 3rd world country that two rival super power nations are fucking over to benefit themselves. They’re mostly poor, criminals run a lot of the stuff, but they have resources the rich nations need

Belters aren’t good or bad as a monolithic entity, they’re just treated like shit by Earth and Mars (which gives rise to extremist elements)

i really liked the space battles but i felt they could have skipped using black-gray ships over a black space background

half the time couldn't see shit that was happening, reminded me of pacific rim but they are always fighting in the dark and in the fucking rain

I think they were going for realism instead of buck rogers. Stealth special ops ships and military combat ships would be trying to be difficult to see.
