I hope you know that my rating means it's good. And I hold a lot of clout around here.

One of the best burgers I ever had was a chili cheese burger that had fritos on it. Chips give a nice crunch to the burger.

Muenster is superior to american in almost every way. Better flavor, and it gets melty yet stringy at the same time. With american, as you eat it, it goos up at the end of everything you're eatting so the last bite is a nasty glob of american.

Little Caesar's uses a mix of mozzarella and muenster cheese on their pizzas. The melting properties of muenster being similar to "fake" cheese is part of why people mistakenly assume Caesar's uses cheapo cheese.

American cheese does have its place. I present to you Shady Glen in Manchester, CT, home of the Bernice Original. 4 slices of a "good" american, on one patty. Cooked on the griddle until crispy and then folded up. You can also order a side of just the crisped cheese.

They also make their own Ice cream on premises. The place is straight up locked in the 1950's.

There's a spot up in Napa of all places that does a burger like this. Never been but I really want to.

I tried the one at White Castle, it was alright. I can tell it's not meat though. That may also be because it's a thin patty and just with pickle and onions. I think with the Whopper treatment you may not notice as much with all the lettuce, tomato, onions and stuff.

Burger King’s chief marketing officer, Fernando Machado, said that in the company’s testing so far, customers and even employees had not been able to tell the difference between the old meaty Whopper and the new one.

i wonder if they understand that this is likely more of a referendum on their burger pattys rather than praise for the fake shit.

I thought this stuff was still too expensive for something like this anyways

Just what we all wanted an $18 Whopper combo. Think of how guilt free we'll feel!

Yeah Impossible Burgers are not cheap. Still never had one even though I've had plenty of opportunities.

I definitely prefer the Kraft Deli Deluxe American to singles.

American is superior to cheddar on anything where the cheese melts. Cheddar is garbage for melting. Ever make a quesadilla with cheddar? Oil fucking runs out of it.

American is really just mild cheddar with an emulsifier to keep it from separating when it melts which is what makes it good for burgers, grilled cheese, quesadillas, etc. Personally I'm not looking for a bunch of funky cheese flavor on my burger and if I do I'll have a blue cheese and bacon one.
Thats because there are other better cheeses for quesadillas.

Guess when it comes to chedder or american it comes down to if you want to use cheese for flavor or put something on your food for color.

Kraft singles are allowed to be as low as 51% cheese.

I didn’t feel like going to the store tonight and was at home for a few days without travel so I decided to embrace my inner flavor town and made a manwich + mac n cheese burrito like some culinary Frankenstein.

That's a key point. Kraft Singles are hot garbage. GOOD American is a decent basic cheese.
Kraft singles are what i think of when people talk about American cheese. Its conplete and utter shit and probably thr best seller by a huge margin. So it all gets lumped in as that.

It's weird though cause American's are huge cheese consumers and we love TONS of different kinds of cheese. Even in my rural part of America I could easily get super expensive fancy cheese (I do this a few times a year trying a cheese I've never had).

In Ramen news though:

+ ramen + cholula. Total cost: $1.45. Amazing dinner.
