There's a place in Kansas City(ish) called Funhouse pizza that makes a cheeseburger pizza, and the sauce is kind of a ketchup/mustard mix. It's been probably 10-15 years since I've had it, but I remember it being pretty fucking good. Not even sure if the place is still around

Midwest pizza places have some great places, but I think the 'average' pizza is very mediocre. I think that's about the same with hamburgers outside the midwest. "Here's your beef cooked on a bun with stuff!"

The Fresh Market (unsure how big the chain is) near us has take and bake pizzas for $8 each. The variety changes based on what the fuck they feel like making that day, but they've got some awesome ones. Thai Chicken, Swiss Fondue, BBQ chicken or pulled pork, Italian style (slices of mozzarella and fresh tomato and basil), and one I've dared not taste. It's the 'macaroni and cheese and bacon' pizza. It's basically a pizza crust with a big glop of mac and cheese with bacon pieces in it. It looks disgusting. I'm sure it's the best drunk food ever.

There's a Fun House pizza 2 minutes from my house, they're definitely still around in KC, but I never cared for them much. Give me Minskys or Pizza Shoppe/Kelsos any day.

KC has a pretty good variety of Good local pizza places. Since we don't really have a "type" that we are known for like Chicago, NY, or St. Louis (blech, fuck you provel cheese) we tend to have a little bit of everything to choose from.

Went to a local place that just had normal pub-style pizza but it was actually much better than average. I ordered a buffalo chicken pizza and the sauce was just all buffalo sauce. Was the hottest pizza I've ever eaten, cleared out my sinuses for days, but damn it was goddamn delicious.

My favorite in KC was Shakey's, but I think they are out of business. And of course, I was 10 then.

I ate at Firehouse Subs for the first time tonight. I had a spicy meatball sub, and it was really, really good. It was actually spicy, which is a rarity for stuff labeled "spicy", especially of the sausage/meat varieties.
