It's just horrible compression artifacts from SE's insistence on fitting the PS2 game onto a DVD5. Doesn't seem like they had an uncompressed master to work with for the remake either, so we got the same audio again (except for the music). Kind of odd since the videos were obviously re-rendered for 1080p (and since the game is 40+GB installed, I assume they are all uncompressed MPEGs as that's the only thing that could take up so much space).

From what I understand, SE lost ton's of original data that was stored from the Tsunami, so guessing they didn't re-record anything but just ripped the voice data from a PS2 disc..

Yeah I decided early on into my run of FF1 that I wasn't going to do them in order. That would definitely burn me out. I went from FF1 to FF5. Might do FF7 next.

For FF3 I would go the 3DS remake - and then may as well for 4 also unless you are including after years that does not have a 3d version.

The old translated roms of 3 are annoying and the game itself is kind of clunky - the remake helps alot

So I made Bacsh an Archer and he won't equip bows even though I have the license for it. His face lights up in the shop menu with a blue + damage, buy bow, can't equip. Thought it might be that it is story based, and he had to lose his mythril sword, but apparently not as he can equip an iron sword. What gives? I have every bow from the start to the part where I am about to go into the desert after getting Penelo back. Won't equip any of them.

Does he have a shield or something equipped in the offhand? Do you not have any arrows? Don't think either would prevent equipping, but who knows

I did try unequipping the shield, but that wasn't it..... The arrows on the other hand fixed it. No spare ranged ammo and you can't equip the weapons. Obvious of course, but no tooltip saying it if you don't have any spare ammo at all. Once you have spare ammo, you can suddenly equip the weapon and you get a "must select ammo" tooltip.

I never got to play FFXII. How can they put out shit like 13 and 15 when they had made a game like this in the last 10 years? I'm enjoying Zodiac Age more than FF6.

Ff12 is considered one of their best. It came out when ffxi was at its peak and was a follow-up to 10 so a hard marketv

I liked ff12 a lot. As an old guild leader, it was like playing an mmo without the drama and retards.

12 had a very polarizing combat system. It's the first game where you really couldn't control your part besides your leader and transformed into an action RPG rather than the turn based play. I remember hating it when I first tried to play it when it came out, but I find it a lot more fun this time around.

Plus Vaan and Penelo are fucking awful

Not too far in but so far I'm using basch as knight, vaan as bushi, Fran Archer and balthier machinist.

Not sure what my ultimate party will be but I think basch tank , vaan DPS, Ashe heal/something

FF12 had a good combat system but it was too shallow towards the end of the game when every character can just use all the same stuff with minimal effort. Zodiac edition may fix that.

It's real downfall was that the story was messed around with from Square HQ to make market research happy so the director of the game quit part way through, it was meant to be Ashe (can't have a female protagonist even though FF6 World of Ruin did), then Bashe (too adult and dark for the effeminate japanese youth) so then it was Vaan who has no role in the game at all. There is no real end boss, the Occuria plotline is dropped when they seemed like the real threats. Also why the fuck are you setting this in Ivalice and using hardly anything from FFT?

The only thing I don't like is you don't really know how good each class is and you can't respec

They should give you the option to respec one for free.

They used stuff almost exclusively from the FFT:Advance series of games, which is Ivalice but it really isn't the same one as the original FFT. It is where all the anthropomorphic races come from and the "Judge" look etc. came from. Which isn't the FFT that most people think of when they reference "Ivalice."
