Merlin, Diggle, Roy, Deathstroke, Sara, and Quentin were great but they either dropped the ball with the writing or they left the show

This. S3 Arrow the only characters worth rooting for or even watching were Raz and Merlin. The police chief guy maybe, since he got shit on by everyone. Every other character was a lying emo drama queen right out of a daytime soap. They even completely ruined Felicity by turning her into a crying cunt bag for the last third of the run. It was especially jarring when comparing it to Daredevil, which is essentially the same kind of show with same sort of main character.

Even if you think the characters were dumb in flash (and Iris made me want to claw my eyes out), nearly all of them were upbeat and worth rooting for. Not some backstabbing gossip group of impossibly attractive young adults who somehow are master ninja warriors that live under a night club. There is a reason Flash is crushing it compared to any other superhero (and nearly all sci-fi) show out there and its the characters being well meaning good guys (except Iris who needs to die in a fire) that people can relate to and root for, instead of the selfish backstabbing supermodel twats that line the cast of both Arrow and Marvel Agents of Shit. Its superheroes doing heroic things and enjoying being heroes. People are tired of low rent batman knockoffs who sit around bleeding from the vagina over how much it sucks to be a superhero (though being a lying dickbag seems to be Oliver's only actual power). Daredevil, a show about a much less interesting character, did everything Arrow has tried to do way better with a far smaller budget and actually stayed true to the source material. Flash did the same. Arrow went off the reservation and turned all of last season into one long season of the George Clooney batman movie.

Sorry, you lost me on this one. Amell/Oliver is awesome and way better than Barry. It's just every other character in Arrow outside of him and the main villain that are fucking terrible and bring the show down.

there are only 2 bad regulars on this show, laurel and my honeybunny, felicity. laurel still sucks, but they corrected the weepy felicity from last season, so now she is cool again. i admit i do not like palmer so much because he always comes off as a fifth wheel to everyone else, its a good thing they are moving him to his own series. i like Thea, always have, she is a brat sometimes, but they always got her doing something interesting so she is up and down. oliver is awesome, sarah is awesome , so is captain jack/merlyn. diggle, though he needs to give magneto back his hat is decent. captain lance is kind of an asshole, but he always comes around and i think he dies this season so he might not be around much longer.

I won't even try to defend S3 Arrow as at points it really does dip down to soap level melodrama, but with that being said at least the series writing didn't start or stay there as S1 Flash does.

I'll completely agree that the characters in Flash have greater potential for being cool, but the writing in the series is so bad only 3-4 of them actually meet that potential. The whole eye-rolling I was doing at the whole trust/don't trust/lame reasoning troll going around in Arrow, literally every single episode of the Flash. I spent the entire season laughing at the absurdity of the conversations in a superhero show? That's an impressive level of fail writing to "stay true" to.

But yeah, I agree the angsty hero thing is beyond dumb and Arrow needs to move past that as a series staple sub-plot, but even the lying dickbag has more screen presence than Barry (sad and not what I take away from glancing through Flash comic screen caps).

which the s1 boss fight(Flash) made me laugh at the nod to this by having the Arrow save the day

Barry, Cisco and firestorm are the only characters that have powers. Jay, Joe, Wells, Iris, Snow, Linda, patty, Captain ect are not metahumans

Add Killer Frost to the mix, and Linda as Dr. Light, with Flash, Atom and Vibe. The West's might not have powers, but we all know Wally West will be turning into Kid Flash.

That's a lot of metas. They have to move to spin offs, or it's going to get real cluttered.

dunno how killer frost comes about, but linda park on earth 1 has no powers, you can not count characters from the multiverse.

Tom Cavanagh is killing it on this show.

He's playing a different version of Harrison Wells...and you get that it's essentially the same character, but a different personality and mannerism.

He makes me totally believe that he's from a parallel universe.

As for the comics why did they make Wally West black instead of just creating its own character like John Stewart? And are the Kid Flash comics good? his suit always looked retarded to me. Seems like they put the same silver look on a lot of the black DC super heroes

I never liked Wally West until he became the Flash. I found him 10x more interesting as the Flash than Barry Allen.
