While I enjoyed the episode overall.

Barry was an unbelievable retard, and it kinda ruined the character somewhat. He has always done some dumb stuff, but this was really stupid, and made no sense whatsoever.

Jay warned him before he got into the breach to be careful because things are not the same and not to be emotionally involved. Harry warns him, and yet he ignores everything...and even goes so far as to say that they are his family.

It was just plain stupid.

That the episode was still enjoyable is pretty darn amazing.

I think the goal was just to sort of rekindle his love for Iris by showing him married to her and happy on earth-2. Still it was dumb.

There is a line between knocking him out for a few hours, enough time to investigate in the police station, and just having him locked up while you live his life for 24+ hours.

Oh, and Barry is a pro at lame excuses. Don't tell me he couldn't have told Iris something along the lines of "I have a few things to finish here, get home back first."
no doubt that was his intention, but silly barry got a bad case of the feels and things got out of hand in a hurry as they usually do. and Gavin, running into himself was just part of it, running into himself at the police station in front of everyone would have been bad.

I thought it was a really entertaining episode.

Completely agree that he really did screw everything up, though.

Been going through Season 1 and I find it funny that one of the most powerful scenes in the entire season is also one of the most retarded. When RF kills Cisco before Barry goes back in time, he just leaves the body lying there. And since he left his wheelchair behind, was his plan to kill Caitlin too? Why didn't he just kill her before he left Jitters? If she had managed to blurt out 'Dr Wells is the reverse flash' or if she didn't make that leap, at least blurt out something about him being shady before Barry cuts her off, his entire plot falls apart. Hell, why did he leave that hologram programmed into the force field in the first place?

I mean I realize it was written specifically so you could have this really powerful death scene that then gets undone by time travel, but when you consider Wells not knowing that Barry was about to change time, he comes across as really fucking stupid for an evil mastermind with a plan spanning a decade and a half.

Now that I think about it, did they ever explain why Wells pretended he needed the wheelchair?
He had a battery in the bottom of it that he used to power up his speed force, also as a misdirect to throw them off of him being the Reverse flash because he cant use his legs

If any of you noticed, the last episode where he enters Earth-2, is how they're bridging the gap between Flash & Supergirl for the coming crossover. When Barry, Cisco & Wells first jumped into the portal thing, Supergirl was one of the images that appeared in their "travel".

Just thought I would share in case no one else noticed. I haven't read this thread in a while though.

Supergirl exist in The Arrowverse, but not on Earth 1 with Barry / flash and Ollie / Green Arrow?
what Earth does she live in? doesnt look like Earth 2 with its art deco style....
Earth 3 maybe?

I don't see how anyone could have missed it unless they had no idea who Supergirl was.

Infinite Earths. Or even among the 52 there are unused numbers.
Multiverse - DC Database - Wikia

Earth 3 is usually the Evil Earth.
If her Earth gets named, ought to be something odder.

Am I the only one who thinks this show has gone way off the rails into batshitcrazyville? All this dimension hopping time travelling alternative earths alternate timelines death reversing thematically matching villain BS is what turns most people off comics in the first place.

They did a good job toning it down with Arrow for the most part, ala. Dark Knight trilogy, S1 of Flash wasn'ttoobad until the main plot got towards the end and they went with the time travelling hidden identity Reverse Flash (just hearing that name makes me cringe, although not as much as "Zoom") craziness, it required a bit of suspension of disbelief but only a little more than most fantasy/sci-fi stuff. But now it just feels like they've gone full retard - the villain is just another guy with the same superpowers in a different colored suit, who so far seemingly hates Barry for some completely arbitrary reason, but this time he's from another dimension instead of timeline, people are hopping between dimensions like popping into their neighbor's apartment, suddenly they've just blown the vaguely future-science feel of the setting by throwing in reincarnating immortal angel warriors etc etc etc.

I get that this stuff is par for the course in comics, but there's a reason the whole comic adaption craze was accompanied by a toning down of these aspects of the settings - it gets way the fuck out of control really quickly, the bar for suspension of disbelief is raised too high and plotlines lose their coherency.

I dunno, maybe I'm just disappointed because I really enjoyed the first 3/4 or so of S1, but the ending and then S2 have just gone straight off the cliff with this stuff.

A big part of it is they decided to be like Marvel and create the DC universe. The multiverse is a pretty big part of that. It's also a valuable tool used to explain away inconsistencies/contradictions while still claiming they're all connected.

Also, time travel and speedforce garbage is another huge part of the Flash character

The Flash is an actual superhero with super powers. This is just part and parcel. It's more like Smallville than Arrow. DC has always had different tiers of characters from normal Joes in weird situations to literal gods. Flash has always been more towards the latter. He has beaten Superman and Hermes in races. Speedforce, yo.

It's not the superpowers that bug me (although they could go for a little more internal consistency on how those powers function), it's the incoherent setting and lazy writing that seem to inevitably correlate with throwing concepts like time travel and alternate dimensions around indiscriminately.

I'm still not convinced Zoom is the main bad guy here. It was let on early right away he was the villain so if that's the case, it shows how far down hill the writing for this show has went.

i dunno much about the Flash's canon, but isnt Zoom or Reverse Flash his greatest villains? here we have Zoom consolidating his speedforce powers by tapping other speedsters LF to become an all powerful god. he practically is in godmode right now. who the fuck is he answering to? at least in Arrow, Darhk is limited to his Enchanter class spells with limited manapool so there is a chance he answers to somebody. Zoom is literally using endgame Bard songs with all the mudflated devices including manastone. he is an unstoppable monster.
maybe when they introduce Trajectory in a few weeks, if Wally powers up and Garrick is injected with Velocity 9 they can collab with Barry to stop him.
