You help your mother the same was as other adult children help there mothers. You help from afar while talking to her on the phone several hours a day are she moves in with you. There is no reason you should ruin your life for your mothers sake.

Your current power dynamic is broken. You have become the parent but because you're still living in her house you have internalized being a failed child that never moved away from her mother.

Trust me I know from first hand experience what your talking about and and why until your willing to assert your own self as being more important then your mother you will always be miserable.

loving your mother shouldn't mean you have to be miserable at all times.

No, it isn't. You have to be on lithium and stay on it long enough to build up a steady level in your system, you don't just pop one for instant mood adjustment. The only way Keg could have seen someone on up and downs from lithium is if she would take it for a couple weeks, skip it for a couple weeks, take it for a couple weeks, etc. You don't suddenly go back to full blown sad/mad just because you miss a day.
