Think about how much you have to unpack here. You have an American actor pretending to be Scottish telling a Scottish actor pretending to be Spanish who is actually Egyptian and the American pretending to be Scottish is lecturing the Scottish actor pretending to be Spanish/Egyptian on what haggis is.

That asshole is french no matter what continent he was born on. Lol

A) in a vacuum I could care less if they make a fictional character another race.
B) there is very real criticism to be had at recasting real people like Anne Boleyn.
C) There has been plenty of white washing in Hollywood.

these are all sane facts. The problem is this in a vacuum is fine but it’s part of a greater overall push. Is this and the little mermaid a huge deal? No. But when they are start piling up people just tune the fuck out. I have much more anger about the way the BBC is blackwashing history. Actual history.
So in the end this is really the least of the problem. Dev is a great actor. It will Probably be fine. This alone shouldn’t anger anyone.

but to be annoyed by a massive trend - I get it and you’ll shouldn’t ignore it

“Why do you care about the race of a fictional character” only counts until they do it every time and make it quite obvious why they are doing it

We've discussed the pattern ad nauseum. Its nearly every time, within that specific pattern. And almost never, outside of that. But I'm sure its all a coincidence that only racists would spin into a pattern.

It's called acting. Back in the day men played all the women parts. There are bigger things in life to be upset about than this. Take a breath. Go take a walk.

Lastly, I'm sorry to break it to you, but King Arthurs legends is not History.

Men played womens roles because women were not allowed to act

The only way this example would make sense is if whites were prohibited from acting and directors had to sub them with Pajeets.

Are whites prohibited from acting?

I don't build my sense of self respect or dignity on what color a fictional character might be in a make believe story.
It must be something to live in this world when you cant connect the dots.

I suggest you cucks go look at the current percentage of whites in America, then compare their percentage of representation in TV and movies in 2001 through today.

everyone wants proper representation. And by that I don’t mean of the real world. But one in which every group is over represented 3 fold.

and in the end of the product is good I really don’t care. I just want these losers to be honest about it.

The director's next film is Peter Pan & Wendy in which he has cast an indian kid as Peter Pan, so you guys will get to bitch about that too.

The best thing i can find in about 4 minutes of googling is this article

Which says its basically pretty close to a correct proportion now, with about 35% of actors in shows being non-white, while america holds at 40% of people are non-white

Leading actors are up to 25% non-white, up from 5% a decade before.

And blacks are over represented in that, being 18% of roles, vs 13% of the population. Basically asians and latinos are still behind, but minorities as a whole are pretty fairly dispersed, but still behind in leading rolls.

Then a bunch of stuff about executives, which I do not care about, at all.

Are you trying to say those facts don't care about my feelings? This is truly a dark day.

The issue isn’t over representation. Go make American Inventor movies all you want. The issue is that white people are being replaced specifically to replace them, not for any other reason.

Ghost in the Shell (Scarlett Johansson) ? A Mighty Heart (Angelina Jolie)? Argo (Ben Affleck)? Elizabeth, Michael and Marlon (Joseph Fiennes)? The 33 (Juliette Binoche)? Every main part in the Last Airbender? The Lone Ranger (Johnny Depp)? 21 (Jim Sturgess)? Noah (Russell Crowe)? Exodus: Gods and Kings (Christian Bale)? Prince of Persia (Jake Gyllenhaal)? Drive (Carey Mulligan)?

Old movies, personal favourite, John Wayne as Genghis Khan.

Now link the Wiki showing white characters being swapped.

When you can't find it. THEN you'll understand the problem. Have enough respect to hold people to their own rules. There is an entire, billion dollar a year lobbying industry to prevent "white washing"; people wanting that kind of rule equally enforced aren't the ones in the wrong.

Like literally each example you linked here, came with a massive back lash, several of them getting the studios to publicly apologize for daring to cast the wrong people. (Hell, in a couple of the examples, some actors were swapped to white, and some to black in the same movie, but your Wiki list literally only cites the white actor swaps. THIS IS THE PROBLEM. It is not the swaps, its the hypocrisy of the reaction to them. )

What kind of idiot would want rules/standards equally enforced??
