Yep, I understand that EQ back in like 1999-2001 was a new thing and they didnt really know how to handle the content delivery and such. But in a PVE game everyone should have a chance to at least try whatever dungeon or raid.

Even take the normal dungeons, I remember on my server places like Seb had literal WAIT lists for camps and shit. 100% taken. this shit is unacceptable. if you can just spawn another instance of that place and let another 30 people enjoy it. shit people fighting for some corner of that place that had access to like 3 spawns, lol.
Looking back I dunno how we even had the patience for that shit back then. It was kinda unreal when you think about it. 😂

You would literally sit in one spot with a group and kill an area with maybe 10 mobs or sometimes as little as 3-5 on a (15ish?) minute wait, because every other corner of every zone was taken. There was barely never much danger of dying because everything was cleared out.

Yeah I have rog in the building atm and thinking of dropping it for bard. Having to do ring of fire for curse cure is ass and you burn through charges.
There is cure curse clickeys but I think they are priest/pally only. I had one drop in POF, god knows what mob dropped it.... I know there is a pally shield, or a knight shied with the clickey also. I know this does not help your class setup, but they are out there. Pally might fit into that combo as well. The new hotness right now is the PAL/RNG/ROG.

Wow, didn't know that existed. The cast time on Legendary is only 1.8 sec. I gotta farm one.

Please share, wtf is going on? What are they whining about?
Basically, Zeb hits hard as fucking shit and they are bitching about mitigation. That you basically HAVE to have a WAR in your comp to be able to "MT" it. Or just be a pet cuck, lulz. But don't worry, pet mitigation is totes getting nerfed in PoP guys! With the amount of whining over it, I highly suspect they're going to buff PALs' (since they're the ones being the most vocal) mitigation AGAIN in some way and manage to leave out SKs from the equation. Maybe not, but that's my suspicion. Or they'll just nerf WARs to "buff" them, like they did with CLR and DA, lulz.

I think my PoTime is bricked tonight. It looks like my Quarm must've spawned with Cord of Temporal Weavings - might even be the lego version, because he's fucking destroying me tonight. Giving up after 4 deaths. Killed him earlier today with zero issues (my 3rd kill of him without issue), but he's just ripping me the fuck up tonight for no reason. So, my only thought is that he must've spawned with the haste belt.

While it's nowhere near impressive as Deruvian's Druid kill of Seru + 4, I popped my 10k DPS cherry against slackjawed Rallos of all mobs tonight-
rallos burn.png

DoT buff + SD inflation just pumps out way too much DPS now, so I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Have you been able to do Quarm yet? I was wondering how that would work for a dot build. When he resets heads he unfortunately drops all the debuffs.

Curse cure is over rated! I did full clear of PoT on SK/Rog/Wiz without it just fine. The only two bosses that killed me were Vallon and Rallos (Rallos was a pain).

I haven't even been casting Greater Curse Cure on Mnk/Zerk/Clr, just using the AA until they are on cooldown, but I can't kill Quarm on that toon. Not sure if taking the time to hard-cast cures would make any of the bosses faster, as PoTime takes longer than VT did.

I've done him a few times now, and the DoTs are really what carry the fight even with the resets. I don't have a plate wearer in my mix, so there's always the fear of getting trucked on these big hitters (I still can't do Seru + 4), but I weave the DoTs in around heals and I'm already up over 5k DPS (40% DoTs) on him even with how sloppy I am.

Even though it makes no sense as Dru/Mnk/Rog, I'm actually going to try using a shield today for the added block chance + general mitigation. I suicide ran at Zeb yesterday and got him down to 82%, so maybe there's something that can be done there and I shouldn't totally write it off.

Just a bit of my 2c on the downfall of EQ. Honestly, PoP wasn't it. Many mid-lower tier guilds enjoyed the raiding, as it offered something for everyone. Guilds actually worked a lot more together to handle the burden of backflagging and when a few guilds finally managed to get to Time, it was actually instanced for the first time ever. The AAs were good, PoFire was the premier XP spot in the day, but there were lots of other options. Ornate and Elemental armor brought focuses to lower/mid tier players & guilds which was quite an upgrade. As I mentioned previously, at the bleeding edge of worldwide raid guilds, my only complaint was the 3 month dev cockblock with Rathe Council being unkillable so they could finish PoTime.

What REALLY killed EQ was the debacle that was GoD / OoW. This was famously supposed to be a single expac with a level raise to 70. At some point in development, they split the xpac in two and rushed out a very broken and unfinished GoD. We ended up with raids tuned for level 70 while everyone remained 65, utterly broken scripts, and just a complete disaster of gameplay. I still have screenshots buried somewhere where we had (on live server) a level 1 GM Dev in our raid following us around giving us GM Rezzes and taking tune notes while we just got crushed constantly. This happened to coincide with WoW release and drove most of us, myself included, to just call it quits once and for all.

So I was probably in middle school or high school during PoP and I loved the game at the time, but you guys are way out of touch if you think more than 10-15% of the playerbase ever saw an elemental plane zone even by the time GoD released a year or so later.

Our server had at least 8 guilds in EPs and 4'ish doing Time before GoD hit. Not sure exact % numbers, but that was quite reasonable.

Esp when you consider guilds were rolling with huge raid sizes at the time.

I think the long stretch of LDoN having nothing much to offer also helped make GoD the "final straw".

I think it was less about EQ/SoE's fuckups though and more to do with just how much more accessible WoW was compared to EQ. It really isn't much more complex than that. Sure, things like GoD, LDoN, broken raids, etc. all were a factor. But the main culprit was really accessibility. We were quickly headed to a world of "NOW! FAST! GO! GIMME GIMME! INSTANTLY!!!" in 2004. Patience was something EQ required a ton of and the culture at large was becoming less and less patient.

Wow, AFK experience in DN at 65 is still really good. Got 40 AA in 9-10 hours. It definitely slows down for making items legendary but that’s okay. And that’s just leaving melody on at slimes, no pets.

They really cranked up the XP. I was 64.5 and pulled 75 percent of DN and it was almost enough to make me 65.

I’m trying to BiS my gear with PoP items out now, but legos are so stupid expensive. I’ve found decent regular and ench prices for much of it, but leveling through the power slot is so slow. I’m 62 and part way through tier 3 and my staff of transcendence I’ve had in my slot since PoP day one is only at enchanted 23%….

is there a “best” spot to level up power slot gear? I’m not a pet class build so I can’t just afk overnight to level items.
