Rogues right now really aren’t in a great place as a white damage add. They output their best dps in spell power and crit focused builds due to their poison procs. One of the devs was in the bow damage thread talking about how they are going to need to buff rogues in the near future, especially as we head into PoP and they start seeing their poisons get resisted constantly. They can’t touch ranger or berserker dps as it stands, but they aren’t sure yet how they want to go about boosting them since they are a in weird spot. Rogue is still an amazing class, brings SoS and a lot of utility, but they are going to run into a wall soon and need some tweaks to keep them from falling all the way off. General consensus right now is take Bard over rogue basically.

A comparison that was used was rogues backstab capping out around 12k, whereas with cleaving frenzy berserkers are hitting for up to 170k with frenzy as the mobs health gets lower.

Edit: link to convo on discord for reference Discord - Group Chat That’s All Fun & Games
The Frenzy thing is because people see big numbers and think, "OMFG!! WOOOOOW!!!". They don't realize that those screens all require a very specific mob health, discs, cooldowns, etc. to be active. Berserker's frenzy is very "meh" until they can start landing crippling crits, when the mob is <35%.

I'm not saying Rogue backstab doesn't need help, but those screenshots are misleading.

they claim this exp bonus is 25% but idk, i am getting 47% of an AA per kill in DN at lvl 54, with experience set to 90% AA. This is with ~2500 vet bonus

Stayed up way later than I planned, kinda mad I wasted hours grinding for spell drops in chardok, skyfire, and sebilis when I could have like 2k AA instead

I don't know how sk/rog/shm stay alive on sleeper. Tried him on my alt, it has bis gear other than augs, 1.8k AAs so pretty much everything useful. 9.5k hp, 2.6k ac, 450 spell/healing. Dude was spiking me like crazy, died when warder spawned. Comparatively I just afk on my war/bst/clr, pop my bloodlust when it's up, never have to press any defensive button, battle frenzy at 25% to skip adds to save time and it's free loot. Do you just have to spam taps the whole time?
450 spell damage but bis? Does not compute. Augs are +~100. Mine, new, still lv 57, 1700 aa, 650 spell damage, most augs, a few, especially the legendary prismatic scales, missing. What gear are you using? Nice ac though.

I beat him by going double malo then casting low level taps when I get below 70%. You can try to land a cripple if you’re ahead.

warder add you need to slow asap with instant slow, then tap + use spirit heal if you get low before he’s slowed.

add dies try to land a cripple again or refresh it. Once you get to 30% get ready to go nuts with the dot line. Stack em all pop deadeye, save nimble/evasive for the adds in case you don’t make it, and yeah. Still only 50/50 lol

My stats are much weaker than yours regarding spell power, and everything else im
Kind of in your ballpark.

Died at ~5% to Kera. Just need to refine my gear a bit and I should be able to kill him with the Paladin buffs.

Was some recentish list on their discord in the thread for this build. I have all the vulak pieces on it, sk epic, vulak offhand, pd hat and earrings, might be 3 or 4 slots I swapped to something similar but lose 5-10 spell damage in those slots. For instance I'm using AoW rings instead of lavastone rings, lose 10 per ring I think. I'll try again today, he may have had a Tolan's on when I tried before since he was slashing and that spikes his damage.

We were talking about that very thing.... the math isn't mathing. We are getting two AA's sometimes on small rat pulls in DN. lol Not sure what kind of of bonus they have but its definitely a bonus.

It's 40%.

You boys think 1 hander and a shield is a better option now on pall/monk?

If you're fighting a boss that's kicking your ass, it's nice to have the option to increase mitigation without sacrificing too much dps.

Problem is runes are shit on high mitigation classes, they go a lot less further than the same amount of effective healing would.

It still feels very very weak especially when other classes are showing parses with 10k+ dps. They need to make changes to the melee combat directly not staple hacked bullshit onto the sides.

Yup. I kept trying to give feedback that CLR is actually even tankier than PAL because heals add a fuckload to sustain, plus their Guard of Vie line, etc.

I knew these buffs would just keep Paladin firmly in that "2nd best Cleric" role, but people insisted it would be better.

The hilarious thing is that the rune procs from archery shots, so it's basically just a straight defensive buff to Ranger and it basically kills the opportunity they had to lean into PAL being the "2H" tank, since Warrior mostly covers DW comps and SK mostly covers spell comps. Instead, these changes just turn PAL into a shieldcuck for some random ass Wiz builds, mostly. Just another option for off the wall spell damage comps.

It basically FORCES you to run CLR if you want to run Zerker. No other class really has a requirement like that. Kinda sucks.

You guys play at a much higher level than I, I mean this is my first time playing eq since like 2003, but could you explain what you mean by this? I mean i don't really understand the nuance or the underlying mechanics you are referencing?

What does clr have to do with zerker? Why do runes suck for high mit classes?

Having not read past page 1, some ideas for class combinations off the top of my head. This is all "in theory" so if any of them wouldn't work for some obvious reason that has been determined in the last 13 pages, forgive me:

SK/Shm/Brd - What I consider the best 3-box in the normal game should be able to solo literally anything in this version.

Nec/Enc/Mag - Malo your own charm pet, have a skeleton for taunt backup on charm breaks, taps for heals. Was wondering about switching one out for Wiz / ports, maybe Nec.

SK/Rog/Brd - Snare, Fear, and Backstab away with a 2H while chaining all the DPS songs.

War/Clr/Nec - Basically a "Super Paladin" and "Super SK" combination without the LOH or HT.

Rng/Bst/Clr - Slow, pet, heals, archery. Lot of RP potential here. Basically a WoW Hunter with heals.

Curious how monks and zerks combine with, well, anything else, considering how different they are on weapon usage. Would a Zerk/Monk hybrid use 2H or H2H?

If I wasn't playing Teek and personas (which are kinda like multi-classing, at least in the FF14 sense) I'd have been all over this. Really awesome idea for a server. What's the expansion unlock cadence like?

I'll comment on the rune piece.

I don't know exactly how much damage the rune is supposed to prevent, but it gets deleted in almost always one hit. What it feels like is happening is that your mitigation doesn't get applied to damage to that goes to the rune - so if it's like a 4K hp rune instead of functionining like an extra 4K hp it instead acts like a 4K hp, 0 AC, 0 defense skill piece of toilet paper was put in front of you.

Sadly right now there are only a few ways to do damage of any merit. You need to either interact heavily with spell damage, ranger archery, or berserker ability (Ravage? idk). Or multiple pets but I don't know much about how they work here. There is nothing that relies on PC melee damage that does anything of real note.

I spent yesterday working through the technical and loginserver account issues and finally I am able to get to the create character screen and have the button work. Now going back through the thread and like Rajaah, trying to decide what I am going to play.

Exciting and glad this is so awesome.

There are serverwide buffs that are almost always up - so everyone has basically leveled versions of HP, regen, mana regen, haste, and run speed buffs. I'm probably missing 1 other one. That makes a number of "classic" value from some of these classes worth less than you think and they generate value in different places. E.g. a single shitty haste item puts you at the cap at almost any level (excluding v3 over haste.) So I think bards become more big spell damage boosts and/or defensive/sustain tools rather than melee buffers.

The BER/MNK comboes probably always go 2H as the good BER abilities scale from top end dmg I think.

Not sure on entire cadence but it's like 4 more weeks of Velious, then 4 in Luclin.

I started a character after hearing about this on the Zaide podcast. Got level 42 in one sitting.

SK/Cleric/Enchanter. Great survivability with lifetaps & FD, sustain with clarities & efficient heals, haste, snares, a full-time charm pet, pulling tools, etc. I have OP weapons, so my DPS has been decent so far, but I think DPS will be my downfall in the long run.

I think Monk/Cleric/(Enchanter or Bard) could be pretty sick and fix my potential upcoming DPS issues.
