I can’t see leveling another character and doing AAs again, I don’t have the time or patience

Not sure this would work (a recent patch may have changed things), but items don't necessarily bind to you until you get XP.

So you just make a bunch of alts with the two classes you want with MAG as the third, give them the epic to summon the pet (along with summoning focus gloves) and return the items back into the shared bank. AFK xp with them until level 60 and 1000+ AA, then use the free AA reset (first) and class change away from mage.

I thought about that! It’s definitely one way to do it for sure. I could buy the thing that unattunes mage epic and totally do that.

I think mage epics are always gonna be a hot item for that reason. I bought one for 65k last week and I saw someone offering 80k last night for one in chat.

if everyone catches onto mage pet AFKing I feel like they’re gonna crack down on it. One of the admins on discord I found said they really don’t care about it BUT they said they occasionally go into private zones and kill your pet so you die

they said they can’t police everyone but might do it from time to time. They just specifically said don’t get caught automating, being AFK is fine other than we might kill your pet for laughs

I’m not taking a hard stance or anything. It’s a multi-decade old game with almost pure instanced content(actions don’t effect others) but if they put effort into anything it should be AFK leveling lol. And yes I’ve done it but it’s total cheese

I’d rather they actually make the different combos a bit more powerful instead of nerf. I view the fun of this server as almost the total opposite of EQ. EQ was all about maxing your toon. Guild raids, etc. this server makes me want to try crazy or even dumb combos because why not. It’s already proven you can solo almost anything with almost any combo. So I don’t see the point of gimping various builds.
Depends on their goals I guess. If the goal is always “let people solo what was tough back in the day” then fuck it. If it’s truly to try and make a challenge for folks then each gimmick will eventually be figured out until we eventually end up back in what EQ was, in some sense, which is heal-tank-dps.

It is unavoidable. Look at every single MMO action style or otherwise. You either become dependent or you don’t. I’m ok with both but no one ever finds that magical balance so just admit the goals and let it be

Using epics in inventory will bind them. Not sure if it was always that way but it is now.

That's unfortunate! The mage epic also puts a spell in your book, so I wonder if you lose the spell if you unbind it. Could pay the cheaper unbinding price and still get the pet, if someone was so motivated.

Seems like it removes it. I had actually moved my mage epic to another char and there's no spell in the spell book for the epic pet.

Any of you other Sk/rog/shm try out the Lethal Fragment of Truth ? Wondering if there is a noticeable difference with that as opposed to the DoT augs.

Not really trying to spring that much plat for something then have it stink lol. Plus mostly just going casual this expansion buying the items instead of farting around on 15 min auto attack and walk away raids, so doubt I'm even going to try seru. Just want to make sure I'm BIS for when pop hits, since probably won't be much in the way of upgrades for the first 3 tiers of zones.

Ah got it. When I got epic last week I tried to cast it from the spell and it said "your class/race/whatever is not allowed to cast this." Now it does in fact seem to work. Weird, not sure what I was doing at that point.

BTW -

I switched from BST/MAG/NEC to BST/MAG/BRD. It's really fun. I'm obviously no expert but no regrets. Fading memories is ridiculously good first off. Second, even farming AAs in DN, shit is tight. I didn't even know that bard buffs stay on, so that's awesome. I just pulled like 50 things and no one died, couldn't do that as 3x pet (maybe you can with higher AA than me anyway.) Leveling up a couple of new weapons to legendary which isn't taking long at all.

make a bandolier for a orb + shield combo and you wont riposte while you run to each spot.

On my ber/clr/mnk I hate the summon too due to riposte. One way around it is pop one of your 3 divine aura spells during a long run between named. You can’t hit back when immune so you can run where you need to go and ID them off. I can clear VT in just under an hour that way, but still it’s a slog and I don’t have any desire to do it anymore after killing AHR multiple times.

Left Eye of Zygoz is an all/all mainhand no damage item. Swap it in before pulls or running from spot to spot and you will never get a riposte.

Those Luclin upgrades did the trick, I downed the sleeper finally, self buffed too. I even tanked all the adds. It got hairy there for a second, Sleeper had like 5% left and they spawned in, my health was all over the place but continued to beat his ass and then killed the adds one by one. Once he was dead the adds didnt even hardly move my HP 3k more HP and 200-300 more AC did the trick, lol.

I just did Emp for the first time with bard swapped in. People were right when they said you barely have to do anything. All the healing and shielding songs constantly going makes a huge difference. Like initially when you walk in the room and you get Blood and all that other shit coming at you - my lame ass the first couple of times, never died to that, but I had to be on my toes and keep everything healed, lower AA's, etc.

Walked in there with bard songs going, pets literally never even visibly lost HP. I just gotta quest for that curse removal song for myself, sucks doing no personal damage.

I'm 3 for 3 for Azalli's rings.

Went to sleep at 11 yesterday and left my dude in place at the drop down by slimes. Woke up at 6 AM (my one office day a week) checked up on him, 46AA. Almost 1000 AA now. 46 AA in 7 hours isn’t bad at all, and Azalli ring finished up legendary from zero. Will probably have another 70-80 by the time I make it home later.
