It just struck me how insidious Druckmann is in TLOU storytelling.

He ground his story in several pro-American themes: Joel is Texan and Desert Storm veteran, Joel-Sarah and Joel-Ellie demonstrate the formation of strong family bonds, Joel's ethics is not based on virtue signaling rather it's based on duty, Bill is a globalist-hating survivalist, TLOU is about fighting for survival of humanity and against degeneracy (e.g., cannibalism and child exploitation David), and Ellie loves NASA.

But Druckmann extends his story-telling to include LGBT themes like lesbian Ellie, gay Bill, trans Abby, trans Lev that are adversarial with nature. These things would normally go extinct in post-apocalyptic societies because they are useless for rebuilding civilization, yet in Druckmann's post-apocalyptic fantasy they permeate.

This simultaneous results in conservatives praising TLOU for depicting American ethos and liberals praising TLOU for being inclusive. Liberals see this as a win because their degeneracy is normalized and it reinforces their propaganda, and conservatives... don't seem care about this that much? (at least that's what I'm gathering based on the posts on this board). GG boys. This is the future we deserve.

Gay couples are actually quite useful in nature to parent orphans. It allows other couples to not have to give up resources for their biological young while helping sustain genetic diversity. Albeit male/male couples less useful in mammals until the offspring aren't dependent on the mother's milk. Trans is a human social thing so it has no bearing on the animal world outside of people.

I'm going into episode 4 thinking after episode 3 that they discover Ellie has AIDS and that is why she is immune because even gay fungus won't fuck with AIDS and 99% of the survivors in the world are just all the gay people left and being gay with AIDS is what saved humanity except gay people don't reproduce and are quite weak as human beings so they get swamped by gay fungal armies and the end.

Promise this is the last I'll say about it, but while he was crying for me to find science to support my position, Sanrith clearly didn't realize that I could just cite the same peer reviewed studies quoted in the articles I linked. I'm sure there would have just been some further objection after that tho.

Hopefully tonight's episode is less gay and we can go back to just regular bitching eh?

interesting changes, not sure it really adds a lot but we'll see. Ellie is definitely growing on me, while Bella doesn't really look anything like game Ellie she is quickly converging on mannerisms, humor, etc and I'm fine with the actress/character now. Just needed some time with Joel.

Only minor quibble with the episode would be the complete lack of infected, it feels like that should still be an overwhelming threat, especially in dense urban areas. Yeah, I know that heaving patch of concrete is gonna be something super fucked up (bloater?) but thats next episode likely, this episode, especially after the last, felt a bit too "safe". The leader of the hunters was terrible, not convincing at all and seems badly cast too.

Glad Joel brought up how gas degrades rapidly, that was a minor quibble from last episode. RIP S10.\

Due to the superbowl next weekend episode 5 will be dropping on HBO Max (ONLY) 2 days early, friday night, so be aware if you don't wanna catch random spoilers
