The first game was pretty much about Joel. Ellie was a motivation for his journey, but he was definitely the main protagonist.

Id have much rather them just follow completely new characters than ruin the story they already had. I mean Joel and Ellie’s story was pretty much complete in the first one anyways, just pick new characters and you can fill in what happened with joellie with information you pick up as the new characters

SJW cant create anything new. Their entire world view requires something existing that they can blame in order to show their victimhood. So all they do is destroy what came before them.

I still haven't played the original, but just 2 weeks ago I was speaking to a colleague and suggested he'd play it.

Pretty happy I didn't mention part 2. Shit like this could ruin people.

This just screams to me that the lead know he had a baked in 2 million+ built in sales and really wanted to load it up so he could say 'people want diverse LBGT content' and then point at the sales numbers as proof.

It is just like Captain Marvel is supposed to prove that everyone was yearning for a female lead in the MCU even though it was going to make a literal billon dollars no matter what. Now it is used as a way to push shitty ideas as money makers because these execs seem to listen to Twitter instead of historicals and core demographic testing.

You can't state afterwards "yea I knew it was wrong but I let you drive the franchise into the ground so that I could make this remark today".

The video gaming industry least of all has these kind of people.

Yeah, but if this info doesn't leak and all the preorders become real orders and it does hit 2 million sales then, just like Captain Marvel, it would have been used for exactly that reason because it would be considered a 'success.'

Personally, I found the first game was way overhyped. The story was boring as fuck, and the gameplay was even more boring. For how revered the first game was, they should have just let it stand as the only game in the series just like there are some movies that don't need/have sequels.

Gameplay in 1 wasn't very good. It is okay at best. The setting was cool and going around finding the, very well written, journal entries of people trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. Along with the various set pieces to go along with it. Those were what made the first game awesome.

Yeah, story/setting/characters/detail were all great. The graphics for the time were also pretty amazing. The actual combat was better than uncharted, but I agree that it wasn’t anything fantastic. Fighting the infected was always much more engaging than fighting humans, but even that got a bit routine. Fighting other humans was just boring and not all that fun

I remember very vividly being ready for the "game to be over" when playing the first game. Mainly because I didn't love the actual combat/shooting, and because it was a dark game lol. The story absolutely made it a phenomenal game for me. The most "fun" game I've ever played? No. But the story sticks with you.
