I can't help but think how the 90's had bad laws and bad things where going on as well but nobody gave a shit then because times where good and the internet was young.
Were where you in the 90s? Where you were you where before then, or where you were you always where?

Yeah, I like to have some proof other than "some guy said", so crazy! I should have immediately put on my tin foil hat and moved straight to "shadow government" status so I could be one of the cool kids. Sadface.

Seriously, Snowden could come out tomorrow and say the NSA is intercepting alien communications and storing it in your mom and you motherfuckers would be frothing at the mouth before you even finished the article on The Blaze.

I don't know if it is just me or not but oddly the confiscation bit bothers me more.
I mean, take my electronics to snag the data, bad enough. I think it is horrible, definitely a search and all kinds of illegal or at least immoral.
Just seizing all my shit essentially indefinitely? That's going against the core of our society. Property is supposed to be damned near sacrosanct.
That right has been practically gone since the 80's

Civil forfeiture scam lets police collect billions from innocent Americans

the concept is called legal creep, the politicians come asking for special powers to punish criminals, then over time the perception of who the law applies to gets widened sometimes to the point of meaninglessness and it just applies to everyone.

An Overview of Civil Asset Forfeiture and Recent Cases

They don't have to charge you with anything to take your property, just have "suspicion" and obviously some officers take a very broad stance on it, you have to sue them to get your property back. Many police departments rely on the cash flow now, so it's kinda semi institutionalized theft.

So hey, Michael Hastings was gonna publish a story about how the CIA and John Brennan are trying to silence all journalists and he dies less than 24 hours after announcing his intention of publishing the story.

WEIRD.

Interesting read if just for what kinds of perspectives these type of people have.

JOINT FORCE QUARTERLY

From Sea Power to
Cyber Power
Learning from the Past to Craft a Strategy for the Future

Conclusion
While the United States cannot dictate the direction of the overall global economy, it can take steps to facilitate the growth of American private enterprise in cyberspace and thereby maintain or improve U.S. leadership in the key strategic points of this domain. Securing the ocean's concentration points with sea power helped foster American economic dominance for decades. Similarly, purposefully selecting, prioritizing, and capitalizing on the strategic "locations" of the electronic world could secure American influence in cyberspace. Like coastal defense, tactical security in cyberspace will emerge as a function of projecting cyber power at these key points, while also facilitating economic growth.Hard power will be secondary to soft power in cyberspace for the foreseeable future.

Strategies aimed at attracting and co-opting will be more successful than those attempting to control through force. This limits the role the military will play in cyberspace, but it does not invalidate the need for tailored government programs and policies. The United States must resist the current trend toward protectionism in an effort to maintain the status quo. Excessive attempts to control or exert hard power will likely do more harm than good. Like Mahan's strategy for sea power, if the United States exerts soft power appropriately in these seven strategic points of cyberspace, it will be able to achieve both expansionism and security simultaneously. Through tailored fiscal policy, partnership with private enterprise, and prioritized research and development, the United States will continue to wield cyberspace power in the 21st century.

Chaos told me that until government admits to it, that its not really true. Can't just believe "some guy". "Some guy" that US govt is doing backflips to get back.

For example, we had no right to assume that Area 51 existed or that CIA was behind the 1953 coup in Iran until both items were admitted to this week by the government

When you have people who lie, you have to find outside proof for everything that they have ever told you. At least in matters of importance. What bugs me about all of this is that without the media watchdogging there is really no recourse.

I wish voting was the answer but when you get a choice between the 3 red dildos and the 3 blue dildos to shove up your ass that have been hand picked by the powers at be, your choice matters little.

Both sides are fucking you, one is a donkey and the other is an elephant, we are all getting raped every damn day.

We should just make a thread called "Both Sides Are Bad" where people can take their usual monthly verbal dump about how both parties are the same and how they both suck.

Aladain can be the king of it.
