Because as a country we have a history of, at least somewhat, protecting whistle blowers. Motive would be a very large part of determining if Snowden is.Why does motivation matter? Is he not violating the law if he thinks his motives are pure?
I don't like troll Araysar nearly as much as I liked old Araysar.I guess you guys think that Danile Ellsberg should have gone to prison too, right?
He left the CIA in 2009 in order to take his first job working for a private contractor that assigned him to a functioning NSA facility, stationed on a military base in Japan. From a_skeleton_03's article:
See, that right there is huge to me. He had found out something was going on and was able to get himself into a position where he could get the proof he needed to show the world. If he had just gone in with the attitude of fuck it I'll take anything I can get then sure, string him up as one giant spy. If what Greenwald asserts is true however then I'm firmly in the whistle blower camp.
He is calling the NDA an oath. It's a contract.Clarify this for me please.

WHEN YOU HAVE A SECURITY CLEARANCE, DO YOU HAVE TO TAKE AN OATH OF SOME TYPE IF
GUEST:00:19:40
YES. WHETHER YOU ARE A FEDERAL EMPLOYEE OR A FEDERAL CONTRACTOR, THEY TAKE THE SAME ESSENTIAL OATH THAT THEY'RE THERE TO PROTECT THE INFORMATION ...
You overlooked a job in there.information-technology job with the CIA
Every one of those whistleblowers have been in the country and stood the trial as part of the process.Because as a country we have a history of, at least somewhat, protecting whistle blowers. Motive would be a very large part of determining if Snowden is.
Motive is subjective, and good intentions don't erase negative consequences of actions committed in their name.Because as a country we have a history of, at least somewhat, protecting whistle blowers. Motive would be a very large part of determining if Snowden is.
That was before 2009 and he didn't have access to the information or even an inkling of it at that point. He was tech support for laptops and desktops probably all Dells which is why he took a job with Dell later. He installed Windows updates basically ....You overlooked a job in there.
Nice try editing it out even you realize you don't know shit. This guy gave information to his OWN GODDAMN GOVERNMENT to stop the problem .....British but chaos used a british example before
Clive Ponting
Senior civil servant in the Ministry of Defence who leaked classified documents to Labour Member of Parliament, Tam Dalyell confirming that the General Belgrano was sunk by United Kingdom forces during the Falklands War while outside the total exclusion zone, contradicting statements by the UK Government.
Except Ellsberg was cleared of charges only because someone was willing to bring forth the evidence that the government was illegally spying on him. Only now, the government has managed to specifically allow for that exact type of spying, so that won't save Edward Snowden from an unfair, biased trial against him. With the overwhelming reality of the situation weighing on him, I would have said fuck this system and gone on the run, too.I don't like troll Araysar nearly as much as I liked old Araysar.
But yeah, Daniel Ellsberg was arrested and went to trial.
You can't clear Snowden of all charges when he is in a non-extraditing country.Except Ellsberg was cleared of charges only because someone was willing to bring forth the evidence that the government was illegally spying on him. Only now, the government has managed to specifically allow for that exact type of spying, so that won't save Edward Snowden from an unfair, biased trial against him. I'm currently trying to decide if staying in this country is my best option or not, truthfully. Once I have the financial ability to go, I may. I'm also torn because I do love this nation, regardless of its past inability to live up to itself. I've served in the military in an intelligence capacity, and got out based on some shit I experienced. I was also a military contractor working for SBI, and was in charge of developing an online training system for the intel schools at Goodfellow. I believe in the spirit of the Constitution, and wish our nation had the balls to actually adhear to it.
His defense would be a cleared lawyer. They have those.I'm not one of the ones here arguing that he shouldn't face a court. I would have serious concerns about the fairness of his trial however. Leaving aside the media's effect in this I've no clue how a trial could even work when you'd more than likely have to tiptoe around "I'm sorry but those documents are Top Secret so we can't provide them to your defense" for the entire case.
I've already lived in Italy for 6 years, it was pretty nice. You can't clear Snowden of all charges when he is in a non-extraditing country.
You seriously should leave the country. Don't move. Just leave for a year and live somewhere else for that time frame. You will come crawling back and begging for your emails to be read by your government.
You lived there as military. Different world.I've already lived in Italy for 6 years, it was pretty nice.
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooI've already lived in Italy for 6 years, it was pretty nice.
And I spent a lot of time with Italian nationals, traveling and the like. I really would like to travel more, get out of this country for a while. But I will never wish for the government to spy on me in an overreaction to a problem that barely even exists. You lived there as military. Different world.
