That'd normally be my policy, but I don't want one that's been beat up being on the floor at Guitar Center. I figure if I order from somewhere good, I can return it if it ends up being a dead plank.

That won't make any difference really. They get the same guitars from the same bulk stock that everyone else gets, so your odds of getting one that has any mojo aren't any better from them. Less scratches/dings? Sure. Mojo? Neg.

Just get a Block Letter 5150 and a Block Heel RG550 dude. Stop fucking around and embrace your destiny.

Nope, I have my amp. The H&K is awesome. No block letter 5150 for me.
Saving this quote my Kang. Saving that shit.

Get an old RG550 and stop pussyfooting around man. They come in neon red, neon yellow, neon green, purple (mine!), blue, probably some more neon colors I forgot. Slap some EMGs in there, turn the gain to 10, and melt some faces.

All this talk about "orange" guitars and I've been too lazy to post one of my own. Out of all the guitars I own, this one has always been my "go to" guitar. 2007 PRS Mira Standard. This was the first year of the Mira which PRS later discontinued to start making the lesser expensive "Starla", "Mira", and "S2 Mira" versions.

Mahogany body with Rosewood Neck and most importantly coil-splitting switch to go from humbucking to single coil. Sounds better than my Strat and gets about 90% as dirty as any of my Les Pauls. In fact, I hardly ever pick up my Custom 24 anymore.

Because I mentioned it. 2001 PRS Custom 24 "10 Top". Pretty sure I've posted it before but couldn't find it. Incredible guitar but one I seldom play. Saving it for my son if he will ever start playing. By the way, this is the exact model/color played by Steven Wilson during the Porcupine Tree tours "dude holding his PRS in the last pic".

Seriously. Steven Wilson is the man.

Before I got my Carvin built, I was seriously considering a Mira. This was in 2008/2009. When did they discontinue the Standard Mira? It was always one of my go to instruments at the music store. That and a tele.

The original Mira Standard was only made for a couple of years. In 2009, they started making the "Starla" and the Mira's started going with lesser pickups and got a change in the fretboard. PRS still wasn't selling the Mira as well as they liked so they changed the Starla to have a tremelo and the Mira became the MiraX. That only lasted a year and then the Mira returned, again with lesser hardware. In 2012 they discontinued the Mira all together, but now PRS is releasing their S2 series of guitars, which are less cosmetic versions of their high end guitars like the Custom 24. The Mira is returning to its original form under the S2 line.

In a nutshell the Mira "Standard" like the one I have pictured is now the S2 Mira. However, many are saying the pickups in the S2 are still not as good as the old Standards.

Those are some really nice guitars. Glad to know there's at least one non-pro musician who plays PRSes that isn't a douchebag.

That's an interesting buy. The mid to late 80's Made In Japan (MIJ) E-serial number Squiers were actually sought after by those in the know because of their quality. In fact, in the mid-80's the only way to get a decent Strat or Squier was to get one from Japan. US Fender was producing next to nothing in the mid-80s. Even though the MIJs had lower price tags ($300-400 for the one you linked new in '87), they weren't lesser guitars. They were in fact the same grade as American Fenders.

I'd say $450 would be a great buy if it plays well.

(Edit) - Found a cool article about the MIJs. In fact, I used to own the '87 American Strat Plus that came out following the slow down of MIJ production and increase in US production. The US Fender group took notes from the MIJs and attempted to make the Strat a hotter guitar for the "slinger" crowd of the late 80's. Mine had horrific neck issues and wouldn't stay intonated for shit. Finally sold it.

Yeah. It's pretty cherry and the Series 1 trem is a bit rare, so I think $450 is a decent price. It'd be a good complement to my Paul and give me something I can carry to jams and lessons and be less worried about it getting fucked up, while still being a nice sounding and playing guitar.

Yes yes, I'm supposed to put the money towards a block letter 5150 instead. Which, ironically, I saw one of at GC the other day.

Well yes, that, and the fact that regardless of it's a MIJ or "vintage", $500 is too much for a bone stock Squier. It's a buyer's market in that price range these days.
