Got some new strings to go along with my block letter 5150. Trying Thomastik-Infeld Power Brights.

They're REALLY loud compared to any other string I've tried. Time will tell if they are worth the price tag ($20 a pack).

I know I've posted an Ian Thornley video recently, but seriously....how does this guy play so damn smooth. He recently did a small performance for Suhr guitars. The slide playing on this is ridiculous. Solo at 2:50 is nuts.

I'm a pretty damn sloppy slide player and I hate it. I just don't put enough time into it. I'm badass at sounding like Tom Morello with a slide though. Probably about as good as your typical 10 year old.

finally found a pedal steel for a not insane price, picking it up this weekend so I'll be spending much time working on my slide shortly. Those things sound terrifying run through distortion pedals.

That's weird, I had a dream last night that I was playing pedal steel. It actually sounded pretty good too. That's how I knew it was a dream.

So am I if I try to do anything bigger than easy-cheese 3 string patterns. I don't get it, it's been my nemesis for like 10 years now. 3 strings? No prob, I can rip like Yngwie with 5 cups of coffee in him. 4 or more? I sound like one of those "so and so shreds" videos.

Thanks to the magic of DI and punching in however, my album is shaping up to be full of perfectly executed seven string sweeps, haha.

Sweeping for me just clicked one day. I had the worst time with it for so long, literally it sounded like someone farting on the strings. Then I remember going "fuck this shit" and out came the most beautiful 6 string sweep. I think I just put my guitar down and went to bed.
