Got one refurbished for about half that. Had it 5 years and no problems. I only have a rug and hardwood floors but it does it's job for corners and everything else.I have one of those Shark vacuums. Was like 200 bucks. It seems to clean well enough, though I don't have much to compare it to.
So...you're the wife? Ba-dum-tss.I do more sweeping and damp mopping these days than vacuuming.
thing about vacuum dude is, he's a repair man, he only gets shit when they're broke. That's like saying you're one of those dudes at the mall that repairs cell phone screens and you say "all iphones suck cuz all i ever see at my stall are 90% iphones, now this windows phone i have is great, i never see it come into my stall and i've never broken mine, LOOK i even got a custom case for it"Vacuum dude is just passionate about his stuff. I get it but that doesn't mean he's grounded in the real world. Like I wear my stupidly expensive jeans so if someone asked me about jeans you'd get a 10,000 word essay and I'd recommend a pair of $350 jeans. But in the real world no one gives a fuck. They'll buy their $40 Levi's and call it a day and that'll work for them and the vast majority of people. So you're getting a horribly biased opinion but the guy is so informed and smart about it that it makes the position difficult to argue other than "You're a delusional idiot I just want a fucking vacuum."
Newest Dysons have spinning venturi's now, skip to 1min markThe little venturi things get clogged all to hell after a few years. I dont know if they corrected this problem on the newer models, but on mine I have to clean it every 2-3 yrs it seems.
Maybe it helps, but I dont see how if you vacuum up a whole bunch of pet hair and carpet fibers. Speaking from a pure engineering mind, its not the venturi spinning, its how small the exit hole is. In their old design, the entire premise of the venturi was to spin the air anyways based on the shape of the venturi so I dont see the difference really. Its not dust that clogged that shit up, it was hair and carpet fibers. And if it was in any way remotely wet when vacuuming the shit up, its like glue.Newest Dysons have spinning venturi's now, skip to 1min mark
That's what the asian girlfriend is for. Fuck Soygen!Yeah, I have two cats and an Asian girlfriend with long black hair. My house is mostly white tile. It's a nightmare keeping it clean looking.
Yea, i have Asian wife too and i vacuum, largely b/c i have since we moved in together and cuz of the dog, also she's allergic to dust mites. I've never had hair stuck in the nozzles/venturi's either dog or human, ever. This vacuum has followed me from VA, to PA, to NJ and still no clumping or hair stuck. (in case ppl say different regions have weird ass dust) It is the old DC07, and i'm thinking about replacing it w/ the handheld v6 trigger. (i saw a demo of it a while back and was actually impressed)Yeah, I have two cats and an Asian girlfriend with long black hair. My house is mostly white tile. Amazon related products showed 2 companies that make air purifiers that use this "trap shit in water method"This is what we have.Hyla. All the air that comes through the vacuum is filtered through a bucket of water. 100% of dust, hair, mites, etc. is trapped in the water. When you're done, you dump the water down the toilet. You can run it as an air purifier during allergy season if you want. Again, everything is trapped.
The down side is the marketing. Some guy wants to come to your house and try to get you to pay $1500-$2000 for the thing, but they're available for under $500 with all the accessories if you haggle or shop elsewhere.
