Can't really go wrong with Husqvarna or Stihl. I have one of each and they are both good. Electric chainsaw is a toy.

We used a stihl and a couple electric ones to take down a tree that fell in my yard. Best way to describe the electric ones is they sounded and felt like toys

Get whatever you have a shop for in your area. The consumer grade Husky stuff I'm not a big fan of. They make the crankcase out of 2 pieces of plastic now.

I personally use a Dolmar, but we have a great couple of shops in our area and you actually get more for your money like a lighter weight with a magnesium crankcase more in life with the prosumer type. But they don't sell them at Lowes or Home Depot.

Jonsered used to make pro quality chainsaws for a long time, but now they have a deal to retail them at Tractor Supply. So look for the quality to go down in a hurry like Husky did when they came out with the rancher series.

You may never need a shop, but if you do you'll be glad you have one in your town that actually works on them. Chainsaws are going the way of the dodo bird. Most logging decks in this part of the world now have one chainsaw, and it's kept in the loader cab to have one to trim a log after it's already on the truck.

Go ahead and laugh but if you do more than cut a couple of small limbs every year get a set of chaps. I'd rather have chaps over gloves, hard hat, steel toed boots, hearing protection etc...

Stihl all the way. Husqvarna overheat in high temperatures and if you're cutting fresh shit they very easily get bound up around the chain and gears. I had to disassemble, clean, and re-assemble our Husqs many times because they just got so gunked up. One time one somehow managed to throw the chain clear off the blade too. That was... interesting.

What are you going to use it for?

Obvious: Get a full set of protection. Pants, boots, jacket, helmet & earmuffs.

I'll also recommend Stihl, we use two to cut down trees. Good stuff.
If the smaller of the two one day breaks apart I might try Husqvarna but at the moment the Stihls are too new to replace.

Gas-Stihl, but don't buy it at a Lowes or HD. Get it at a dealer that specializes in outdoor tools. They'll have a better selection, a more knowledgeable staff and repair facilities. That said, I own a cheap-ass corded electric because I cut 2 or 3 tree limbs a year and electric chainsaws always start.

Edit:Whoa, I didn't realize so many folks had already answered the OP before I hit the send button.

Backpack generator. Used one in college for a fish shocker, never thought about chasing someone with an electric chainsaw tho....hmmm. Just have to chase fat chicks which would pretty much take all the fun out of it.

I bought an eGO Lithium lawn mower and it's completely bad ass. Runs for 45 minutes, charges in 30, quieter and lighter than a gas powered mower, always starts, no oil or gas obviously, has a fucking LED head light for mowing at dusk. Can fold it up and hang from the wall in garage so it doesn't take up so much space.

They make a lot of other products as well. Probably gonna pick up hedge trimmers and blower. Was hesitant on the chain saw. Just seems like a decent one would need more horsepower than a lithium battery could provide.

I knew a guy who had a corded electric lawnmower because his wife didn't allow gas tools. What a faggot....

I'm fine with electric for small shit you use all over, like a standard drill. But everything else should be air or gas powered if you are any type of man doing anything even half legit. If you just hang blinds and curtains for your wife.....whatever, go to Lowes and get the pink electric drill kit for 39.99

I have an electric weedwacker and leaf blower/mulcher for light duty because I only have weeds and a couple trees that shed during the summer. It's fine and I can't be bothered to mix 2-cycle anymore. If you live in the woods that stuff doesn't really work though, I used all gas for that.

I don't really see where you need something gas powered to prove you're a man, I've always firmly believe in getting the tool that does the task most efficiently. Case in point I have a gas mower because my yard takes 2 hours to mow so I coudlnt use an electric. However I have one of those li-ion trimmers and it's awesome.
