Picked up a drill press too. Ryobi isn't the best name brand but so far this thing has been great. Sturdy as hell and works like a champ. And it has frickin' lazorz.

Yup, center channel is one of the most important parts of a HT setup. Having dialogue drowned out my your fronts just sucks.

Got an escortredlinea couple weeks ago and had a few saves on i-20 so far. I picked up a TX DPS trooper shooting IO KA from about 4 miles away, was pretty impressed since it was pretty hilly with lots of trees.
Also picked up ablendmountsince I don't like having things stuck to the windshield.

I haven't kept up with radar detectors lately. At one point the Valentine One was pretty much unbeatable. I am assuming some of the other brands have caught up.

This also applies to pretty much all women(and my wife). She always mentions that she doesn't think the rear speakers are working because she can't hear anything, usually while we're watching the news or a sitcom or something.

The V1 is still a great detector, with the new app + custom sweeps I isnearly as goodas the redline. The redline does have better off axis detection plus with the excort live app you can "teach" your redline to ignore false alerts that you drive by everyday which quiets it down in the city.
I had a V1 and I do miss the arrows but I found it to be very chatty. The Escort live app is pretty slick too, it's pulling data from Waze users who report traffic problems and speed traps also.
Meh, not really. The point (IMO) is that everyone speeds. 74 on the highway is speeding, so is 40 in a 35. I have one so that if I'm a little over the limit (or just rolling with traffic while commuting) and there's a speed trap, I might have a chance to slow down before hitting it. Normally 10 over the limit isn't a ticket, but if you catch a cop having a shitty day or just have crap luck, you are SOL. It pretty much pays for itself the first time it bails you out when you consider the cost of the ticket + insurance premiums for the next few years.

My wife always changes the receiver to All Stereo mode or whatever, so all 5 speakers put out the same thing :/

Right, so the point is...speeding. I didn't pass any kind of ethical judgement in my statement.
If you want to be a pedantic cunt, then yes, the point of buying a radar detector is speeding. What I was getting at (and I thought it was pretty obvious) is that speeding isn't the "goal" of buying one. The goal is avoiding speeding tickets.

Seems to me you're being the pedantic one, splitting hairs when there's really no difference. Speeding certainly is the goal, the radar detector is there to help you not get caught so you can do it more often (or all the time).
You guys are welcome to have this asstastic debate without me. I was simply stating that most people don't buy a radar detector and say "Fuck yeah, now I can SPEEEED!". Maybe you do. I don't really give a shit, I was just answering the question.
