The moral of the story is that you should have a concealed carry card in case some hood rat attacks you.

Vaclav also has no fucking clue what the fight or flight instinct is. Most people don't run OR attack when confronted with a gun, they freeze.
Funny - I'll tell my buddy who landed in prison after a bad "fight or flight" response from a cop brandishing at him and going into "fight" mode that it's apparently completely impossible for anyone to ever go fight mode next we talk.

But nope, fucking clueless on the matter - derp derp derp. I'm not a psychologist, but I took plenty of courses to fill my load out.

Sure most people freeze, but do all? Not remotely. Additionally freezing at the sight of a gun is a response to it being BRANDISHED not other possible variants - like moving your coat back to show it as a hint. True fight or flight isn't rare if someone is threatening you that has a gun and doesn't have it pulled yet.

Moral of the story, don't attack people. They might be armed and kill you.
yep. and thats why the sanford police let him go initially. maybe the cops in sanford hate on brown, thats something that should be taken up with them, not zimmerman who was only defending himself. they even had a witness testify today that TM was on top of GZ beating him to fuck. oh wait, he was a creepy ass cracker too, so his testimony doesnt count even though he was a prosecution witness.

I think that the stand your ground laws are the result of the NRA not having enough to do the last few years. It's true of all big time lobbying organizations that they need a battle to fight to justify their existence. The NRA isn't going to fire all their employees and close up shop because no one is going to try to ban guns just like Greenpeace isn't going to shut down just because most of the world has pretty much agreed that pollution is bad. If these organizations run out of real battles to fight, they start solving problems that don't exist and that's how we get laws like Stand Your Ground.

Luckily for the NRA the gun banners are all fired up from the recent mass shootings so they should be able to stay busy for a while.

I would say SYG laws were more in response to the "duty to retreat" doctrine in many self-defense scenarios.

Indeed SYG is so screwed up in cases like this even the drafter has said it shouldn't apply in cases like this. Although it certainly can.

Or maybe your buddy should have learned not to be a fucking mindless caveman. Your buddy belongs in prison, just like anyone else who can't control their fight or flight instinct in front of a cop. We don't live in a fucking hunter-gatherer society, if your self-control doesn't overpower your instinct, you're a danger to people around you.

Maybe the jails are packed with people serving murder raps because they didn't retreat correctly in an otherwise legit self defense scenario, but I doubt it.

I have no idea where you went with that. There are people in jail though, who were attacked without provocation, used deadly force to defend themselves adn then were convicted. It is fairly rare, but it happens. Certainly I don't feel like I should have to try and retreat before trying to defend myself if I am attacked.

I absolutely agree that he deserves to be there - but that instinct is still part of human psychology, like it or not.

Legally permitted is not the same as following protocol - I was stating he wasn't following protocol not breaking the law. You're legally permitted to cuss when I'm employing you, it doesn't mean I won't fire your ass for cussing in an environment that would reflect poorly on the company since it's against protocol though. (Well, technically go through the steps towards...)

Protocol was to not carry - he was LEGALLY permitted to - but he was breaking protocol in doing so.

Khalid: Possibly true - but as you yourself stated "if he didn't brandish it"... if he did he probably started the altercation when "fight or flight" went to the fight needle in Trayvon's head.
I'm sure he'll have some serious explaining to do at the next NW meeting, because that's the only place this is relevant

Not really - can be used to show his state of mind - he keeps trying to say he did X/Y/Z by the book and exactly to the letter of how they should be done, yet he's not done other things to the letter of the rules he's supposed to follow.

Credibility, etc. Probably won't matter since there's too much questionable stuff but credibility matters, and not obeying protocol and then claiming you're doing stuff by the letter of the law is an obvious way to question his integrity as the only "perfect" witness.

So Duppin, where did you get the 40+ calls to 911? Or was it just an off the cuff comment because you think he was calling them all the time?
