Ok, I'll be that guy. If comic spoilers are free in the thread (i.e. no spoiler requirement) then can we update the thread title? I know, Walking Dead story isn't the most srs bsns, but it's nice to have a little mystery as to who's going to die and where the overarching plot is going. I'm not suggesting the thread should be spoiler free, but when the vast majority of the discussion is about the show and some chode monkey says shit like who's gonna die next week according to the comics... well you get my drift.

Yea.. I agree he shouldn't have mentioned any names.

I was going to come here and say it's interesting how far ahead they seemed to jump between last season and now.. Feels like it took a lot longer in the books, or that the show added lots of tangent story lines before, but they've followed the comic arc pretty closely for the last season or so.
However, I am looking forward to some of what they got coming up soon now, if they continue ollowing the comic more closely. But, who knows, maybe they won't.

I never said crap about the comics with those 2 names. I said they clearly focused on their struggle with love and that is never good when it comes to living. Like the focus on Beth, Gov,the kids, Noah and so forth. Getting attention is not something you want.
I would be shocked if the people play out as the comics do since it hardly ever has before. People are alive in the comics at this point that died years ago on the show and probably vice versa. Even the Alexandria people died in different order or circumstances.

I did say the comics Hilltop had 200 people in it and I don't see it here. I also don't see where they are raising all this livestock in that compound. All I saw was a chicken coop.

Edit- I will add this but it is a spoiler
I just looked at the wiki and I knew they both died but I thought Abraham died much later in the comics for some reason. I can see where that rustled some panties now. I call Abraham dies but Glenn lives on. It was so obvious this episode it started off with Abraham finally getting peace and ending with his mug staring at the ultrasound of Glenn. They did the same thing with Glenn, but I don't think they have the balls to kill them both. Everyone knows Glenn dies after all the uproar from the dumpster thing and the backlash was pretty severe to them for it. I am betting Glenn lives on.

Ya, I still don't know if they are going to Issue 100 him or not. They have claimed they aren't, but that doesn't mean shit ;p

Abraham, though, is confirmed dead meat. Sasha will probably die as well.

I didn't think about her but they really haven't focused on her much. The only other person I can think of who they really gave a "farewell" episode to that never happened was Carol back when. Then they made Superwoman Carol and this year she has been mostly baking shit and phoning in her appearance. I guess it's possible she is on the table as well.

So we have if you consider Rosita and Eugene 6 of the original 14 that came to Alexandria on the table and more Alexandria and now Hilltop fodder.
So 6 episodes left. This will be a year where it ends on a battle note.
I say 1 main group dies prior to the season finale and 1 at the end. We have 3 action packed episodes and 3 tomato growing episode. Not based on comics just basing it on past pacing.

On another note, is it me or are they having a tougher time every episode with Carl? He looks a inch taller every episode and is clearly growing up, regardless if they want him to or not.( fuck me he turns 17 this year )

Why would they care? They'd probably be happy about it. After the Negan storyline concludes they need Carl to be an adult so he can move out by himself to Hilltop and get his eye socket licked by some crazy. Though I'm not sure if his love interest is going to be the eyesocket licker or not. I assume they'll do that scene since its a pretty famous one from the books.

the whole blacksmithing thing is silly. men had spears before they knew about blacksmithing. good spears. how good? woolly mammoths went extinct from hunting 10,000 years ago. yeah all they used was sharpened rocks. with all the metal laying around on this show, you can sharpen just about anything into a spearhead. tie it to a stick and you got yourself a spear. these guys dont even bother with anything longer than a knife and they still havent figured out how to tie that to a stick. or ya know just use a sharpened stick as a weapon.

To some here a sharpened stick would require a 4 year degree program and NASA skills. Not everyone has sharpened a stick you know.

WTF are you guys going on about blacksmithing for? I was just making a joke about someone from Alexandria apprenticing with Hilltop's master spear maker since we've obviously just been introduced to the most advanced society left alive...because they have spears. I wasn't being serious.

In the comic Carl literally goes to be an apprentice blacksmith at Hilltop

The blacksmith derail came from billymain saying since there are only 5,000 blacksmiths in the US there couldn't possibly be anyone still around that knows blacksmithing. But as olebass said, its not rocket science, I'm pretty sure I could smithy me some weapons, albeit crude, just from time spent watching blacksmithing at renaissance faires. We know these people have ample time and hilltop has been there since the beginning so even just a hobbyist would be pretty adept at making weapons by now.

For a 'setup' episode, this one was more interesting then normal. There wasn't any significant eyeroll moments to me. Most of it made sense.

Potential spoiler, based on the comics below
So.. I'm pretty sure they are just going to substitute Abraham for Glenn in this show's 'red wedding' moment. They need to have it be someone important or it loses a lot of it's impact. It has to happen because it really cements Negan and everything that happens after.

That was my thoughts as well Enzie.
On another note-
I spent quite a bit of time also looking last night to try and come up with the date taking place since day 0 without much luck. I think we are roughly around the 2 year mark, maybe before.
This is of note as certain effective antibiotics are now deadly to take and with diseases and everyone being infected to begin with, in reality papercuts could be lethal. I don't think the show ever takes that route though.

I really hope this isn't true, but I also think you're probably right.

Glenn is invincible now. This show is consumed by a bunch of 13 year old girls and retards. Both of which are gay-on for Glenn.

To be fair, middle aged women love this show alongside the 13 year old girls the same way they loved and obsessed over Twilight.
