Oddly, this last episode with the governor felt more natural than the show typically is. There wasn't constant, superfluous dialog. There weren't constant ninja zombies jumping out of every shadow. Everyone didn't seem perfectly groomed. There wasn't a newly detailed Hyundai in every other shot. I hate everything from the Governor storyline last season, so had my doubts, but fuck if the world didn't finally start seeming a bit more natural and not like an episode of As The Zombocalypse Turns.
It started going off the rails, though. The truck inconveniently breaks down. An inconveniently twisted ankle. An inconvenient freezing in the face of impending zombies (even though it was the little girl, still sick of that trope). An inconvenient hole to fall in... and I swear didn't the hole seem covered? You wouldn't need to really camouflage a hole as walkers seem to walk into anything in their path, and then once inside the hole I didn't remember any sticks and leaves and shit from it caving in. And there were walkers already in there that would have busted through the covering. Bleh. I don't even go back to check anymore when shit seems like it might have been dumb. Just knowing they're so capable of that kind of thing is ruining enough.
And now we'll be back to a ton of overwrought dialog. Can't wait!
