What I remember most about the Clay Davis scandal is that no one really wanted to investigate him that heavily because they were afraid of what they would find out.

It seems like everyone in the State knew exactly how dirty he was. He was too big to fail!

It's the triple-cut sheeeeeeeit that makes that clip so hillarious. I lol every time.

Clay was absurdly blatantly corrupt though, so much so that he seemed more like a parody. As cynical as the rest of the show is, they really take it to another level with Clay. Just part of the dark humor of the show that makes it so great, though.

It has been a while since I saw it, but I thought there was a scene where Clay confronted Royce about the investigation where he specifically mentioned party money and fundraising for Royce. I figured that was Clay's version of paying it up, he acts as the link between the local politicians and the state/nationals while also raising money for them in exchange for protection from shit like that investigation.

Yall must have forgotten the very last scene we see Marlo in ....He gets into a pointless scuffle with 2 corner boys for no reason whatsoever.... I think he gets a cut on his hand too doesn't he? He's also the guy who ordered a whole family dead because someone talked shit about him. His name is his name.....

That to me shows that he's on borrowed time. And ESPECIALLY since snoop and Chris are gone now, and he really can't afford to take on the streets again due to his precarious position with the cops ...the deal was he keeps the money and everything but he's never to be seen again on the street. It's just not going to happen and he's going to end up arrested/prosecuted or just dead because of his psycho impulses.

A lot of good points here. Good discussion. One thing I'd like to throw out there is, isn't this game just what the game was for the Greek and his people before they stabilized? Like Mafia's of old vs now or Asian gangs old vs now? What I am getting at is had Stringer lived the Greek is where he was headed regardless of his desires. Sophisticated corruption. Prop Joe was the closest one there already there but he had zero ambition to go any higher. Stinger should have been sitting at Prop Joe's table until he learned the game well enough to create a new empire. Maybe he might have figured that out before it all crashed in on his naivete.

This thread brings back one of my favorite TV moments ....Slim putting a bullet in Cheese's head. So good.

Few moments in television have ever brought me as much satisfaction as Cheese getting his. It brings a tear to my eye that I will never be able to watch that moment again and experience the joy as fresh as I did the first time around.

I interpreted that as Marlo just knowing who he is. He left the shitty party with all the rich white people trying to swindle him out of his money to go chase kids off a corner. He's a lot like Avon, but more cruel. Like he's a product of Avon's world.

His inner circle was more than just Snoop and Chris. They were his main hitters, but he had a lot of people around him. His time is definitely limited, but that goes for everyone in that lifestyle.

Yeah i interpreted him leaving the same way. He knows he'll never belong in those circles and he knows he belongs in the streets. But i took the confrontation with the 2 other guys where he gets cut as a sign of what eventually will get him. He's smart, cold and hard enough to be on the street, but he loses control too easily over things that Avon or String would have brushed off. He also doesn't instill the same fear and respect as the other main players ....everyone knew who String or Avon or Omar were. Most players on the street have no clue what Marlo looks like. They know he's out there but very few have actually seen him, and they do not fear him on sight.

That scene also means even though Omar is dead and Marlo is alive, those 2 kids were talking about Omar (and god, EVERYONE knew who Omar was, so many scenes to back that up), and didn't even recognize who Marlo was, and that's what got him all riled up ...and that's what will prevent him from ever being safe and will eventually be his downfall.

Total opposite of the Greek, as showed in the previous video in the thread, who only seeks anonymity and only uses violence when business is involved.

So I've been watching another show recently. Friday Night Lights. People suggested it to me, that even though I don't care about sports/football, it's a VERY good show. Same premise as the movie, but it started 2 years later. Ran for 5 seasons. Anyway, I'm in season 4 now, and the newest cast member is Wallace, one of the kids that saw Omar's boyfriend with his eye popped out after being tortured and executed.

The Wire is everywhere.

Watched episodes 1 and 2 last night, wife's girlfriend had never seen or heard of The Wire. Will probably end up rewatching the whole thing with over the next few weeks with them. Still so amazed how good the show is and how much the cast clicks from day one.

The Wire is everywhere.
Towards the end of season 2, is the girl on the merry-go-round with Nick the same actress who plays Zoe in Nurse Jackie?

Also, I'd swear that Agent "Danielle" Cicero from Sopranos is briefly in a shot in the Mayor's office in a later season.
