HBO reuses tons of actors from their various shows, so I wouldn't be surprised. Can't comment about Nurse Jackie though, as I've never seen it.

Also don't forget Johnny Fifty, one of season 2's checker (the dock worker with the goatee) briefly seen as a homeless man in season 5. Feels.

imdb confirmed Merrit Weaver from nurse jackie is in a couple of wire episodes...Nurse Jackie grows on you. It's dark and about drug addiction.

Yeah, neither. Wow, mind blown.

I couldn't get over how much of a bitch the main character was (especially cheating on her husband while he's at home taking care of the kids - her unbelievably younger and more attractive husband). They were trying for a female House, but House had enough humor and decent side characters to balance him out, whereas Nurse Jackie is just a bitchy bitch all her bitchy day long, and all the side characters are boring, bitchy, boring and bitchy or absurdly naive not to notice that something is up with Jackie in 2 seconds.

Also the fact that she opened a capsule of adderall and snorted the spansules in one of the first episode was so stupid and just confirmed they'd done no research whatsoever, that scene really bugged me:

You have to fucking crush them first you dumb bitch, otherwise they wouldn't even fit in your nose.

Watched episodes 1 and 2 last night, wife's girlfriend had never seen or heard of The Wire. Will probably end up rewatching the whole thing with over the next few weeks with them. Still so amazed how good the show is and how much the cast clicks from day one.
This is one of my favorite things about the show. In a lot of TV, actors grow into their roles. McNulty is the same dude in that opening scene as he is at the end of the show. Props to the show creators for pitching the characters so perfectly from the get go.

Oh fuck, next Wire appearance on Friday Night Lights. Hello D'Angelo Barksdale!

This show is suddenly even more enjoyable than it was before, and I liked it then too.

Finally started watching this. I started last week and I'm on the season 1 finale tonight. It's as good as advertised for sure!

I thought season one was a lot to swallow on the first watch. On any viewings after I've enjoyed it just as much as any of the first four seasons.

But fuck if the season 1 ending isn't just perfect. I love how it just...ends. All this buildup to a resolution that is probably about as realistic as possible. No dumb TV gun battle or the heroes winning. Just disappointment and realism.

Almost done rewatching the series for my 3rd time and man does season 5 just take a dump compared to the rest of the series. Still a great series though.

Also the actor playing Frank Sobotka is sheriff Andy Bellefleur in True Blood.

More trivia : you can see theJohn Munch characterin one of season5's episodes. Munch character, played by Richard Belzer, is well known for New York Special Victims Unit, but he first appeared in Homicide : Life On The Street, a tv show from NBC based on a book from ... David Simon, The Wire's creator. If you have already watched The Wire, I'd suggest to watch Homicide too. It's not as awesome as The Wire, but it's pretty good with top notch cast and quality writing. It's a 1993-99 4/3 tv show though, watch it upscaled.

No matter what they used for the actual shoot, it's better than the broadcast or the DVD, even if it's not in HD. If they upscale it and then pan and scan to have a 16/9 image, that might not be much of an upgrade though.

The 16:9 thing will never happen. It will always be 4:3, even if it somehow got released on Blu-Ray. There is poor compression on the DVDs, particulary season 4 for some reason, so an HD re-airing in 4:3 would still be an improvement.

Fuck fuck fuck. I'm going to have to buy another The Wire box set.

I own the box set but I've only ever watched it from my pirated downloads. I bought the box set out of goddamn respect!

I own the set as well, and HBO really fucked up in how they made it. Some of the disks don't even play. Complete tragedy of a box set, but I had to own it.
