i said this about ragnarok and it looks like i'll be saying it again... it's TOO funny. don't get me wrong, i love that hemsworth is able to show off his comedic chops, and there's a lot of stuff in the outer space side of marvel that is so bizarre that you just can't take it seriously so you HAVE to lean into the absurdist comedy of it all... but there was a ton of heavy dramatic moments in ragnarok that were immediately undercut by taika's neurotic need to have a joke every 20 seconds. i'm expecting the same thing with Gorr: a character that has NOTHING funny about him but all that tragedy and misery will just get lost.

with ragnarok, i feel like they could have taken out 1/3 of the jokes and it would have made for a better movie. it wouldn't be comedy overload and it would allow the serious bits to linger long enough to be impactful

Chris Pratt really did long enough to become the villain after everyone loved him. I can’t even think of anything offensive he said. Or does everyone just hate him for divorcing Anna Faris?

nah fuck that, everyone still loves him. it's just the usual slew of angry parrots (both in regurgitating shitty opinions and brightly colored hair) shitting up the internet, specifically twitter.

he goes to church I guess? so fill in the dots

also, the raging blue hairs thinking Taiki was cackling with maniacal laughter over how rustled Pratt must be that Thor gives Quill the dreamy eyes... I want to ask what fantasy world they live in, but I already know.

he goes to church. that's basically it. he's never spoken out against anyone, really, but his church says being gay is a sin so twitter dogpiles on him

His Church is standard Baptist fair, so publicly, we accept everyone but dont affirm being gay. Its probably privately more homophobic then anyone lets on, but its not here nor there, every religion is still trying to figure out how to navigate cancel culture. I think because he is openly religious they associate this church's views with him, which is ironic because the same people tell people not to judge people who go to certain mosques where the cleric is really rallying against that stuff.

Its not fair to him, but hes been successful in spite of the vitriol he gets. I mean nobody forced him to film this scene, he has enough clout it could have been changed if he was uncomfortable with it, the whole thing is people just projecting feelings.

Dr. Strange comes out in a few weeks in May and Thor 4 comes out in July so in theory they should flow together but I dunno, all these new MCU movies (outside Spidey) feel utterly disconnected from each other with zero build up towards anything.
It's definitely going to all build up to Kang the Conqueror in Loki S2 and then there will be some big multiverse finale movie after that.

I think Taika is hiding the "good parts" and just giving off Taika lulz vibes on purpose. He wants the bad guy to show up and brutalize some gods and then you go "oh fuck!"

If that's the case it's actually really well done. But of course normies go "WHERE HE FIGHT IN TRAILER?!?!?" Can't go too far above 90 IQ with Marvel stuff or you'll alienate the base which used to be hardcore nerds and is now just kids and bros.

What others have said: He's a Christian, and not just like prog Christians that say "God this, God that" but never mention Jesus... he comes out and makes it about Jesus:

"That grace was paid for by someone else's blood"

retht.jpg

You guys have figured this out by now that the left HATES Christians, right? Especially gay lefties.

yukryuk.jpg

(Edit - See? LoL!!! Thanks for the backup, lefties)

The idea that Christians are gay-hating people is nuts. No one becomes a Christian just to bash gays; we just realize God's word is absolute and the Bible is soooo patently clear about how God feels about homosexuality, as was Jesus. No Christian is supporting, say, genocide of gays... we just know it's a sin (and we know we ALL sin; not just gays). As usual, God is right; considering homosexual STD rates, depression rates, suicide rates and raising kids in those homes producing more problems as those kids age versus atomic family units. God never says do something that is bad for you, or says NOT do something that is good for you... just like ANY loving parent would to their children that they would die for.

Like others have posted, the Pratt hate brigade online seems to stem from the specific church he attends. AFAIK he has never said anything publicly that controversial, it is more of a "guilty by association" type of deal.

The problem is that American society has gotten so woke, that Christianity is now considered hate speech to the leftist progressives. I guarantee if I dig around Twatter and find out what is sooooo offensive and/or controversial about this church, it's going to be just some LGBTQWTF people waaaay overreacting to a preacher talking about Leveticus 18:22 or I Corinthians 6:9.

Don't think they mentioned it in the breakdown above but the neon sign on Thor goat boat says "Cocktails and Dreams" and is identical from the one at the end of Cocktail.

Gross oversimplification. It isn't so much Christianity, but the Evangelical sect of it that has been injecting itself into politics.

Honestly I could care less what religion people practice. I only give a fuck when they try to force their millennia old doctrines on everyone through government and manipulation of business.
