I did the account linking awhile back and tried this on PC. But I couldn’t get used to the POV on my monitor, so I just went back to my console. I’ve also just played it too long using a controller to want to get used to M/KB.

I started/finished the Duvri Paradox. What a weird story and presentation. I’ll probably go through the rest of the new quests this month and pick up all the new frames.

Progression ground to a halt as soon as I was hit with a Necramech requirement for New War. Kinda sucks. This part of the game feels like I am building into and grinding for something that's already outdated.
The game is just an odd duck in that regard. They try new things, some hit, some don’t. The core of the game for me each time I return is see what weirdo story they’ve got going now, collect all the new warframes and weapons, try the new game modes then take a break.

If things get too grindy, I will occasionally just buy what I need/want from the player market. Monitization for the game is pretty fair and I don’t mind giving the developers some money every time I return

Best way to get past that is to spend a little bit of money. Buy one of the warframe package if you are interested in one of them(Jade/Cyte09 mostly, the Koumei package is super overpriced cause it has a ton of plat, I think they retired the Dante one which was the best value one) or even I think the weapon starter kit which is 5bucks for a weap and 100 plat. Can also buy plat outright, but the packages are usually better value overall. Then go to the trade site and buy a Necramech set. This will cost you around 70-80plats. Then you have to wait 3 days(can do sidequests and shit in the meantime). If you don't want to wait, you can also pay another 50plat to instant craft it, but that's past the 100plats you get for the 5$ pack. If you have things you can sell for plat that can work too, running relics and stuff.

Imo Necramechs are quite useful for grinding open world shit. They're also useful in general for mastery points like almost everything in the game.

I didn't mind it myself cause I still had a ton of sidequests to do, so I spent 3 days doing random shit and then continued with the story.

Getting a necramech takes a bit of fishing and mining but it's far less grindy than many of the Warframe farms. It's pretty fast if you go to one of the spots where you're not harassed by monster spawns.

The mining part is super ass unless you have a ressource booster, specifically the Heciphron shit. It took me I think 4hours to put together everything for my Necramech back then, and that's pretty much more time than a lot of warframes that have guaranteed droprates. Plus you have to be mining and fishing most of that time and that's not super interesting gameplay while warframes are usually farming doing combat content(although farming Citrine involves a dogshit map so the ~3hours it took me total felt more like 20hours).

It's ultimately not that long but 5bucks to skip the entire mining/fishing grind isn't a bad deal either imo. In general as long as you buy from players, the rates in terms of money vs time spent are actually quite good, and once you get sufficiently far into the game you can just farm stuff to sell for plat and stop spending. In the 3months I traded I sold over 6k plats worth of stuff, which buys you... well most things in the game. And most of it was a few hours a week worth of "work", doing bounties and shit.

Early on making plat sucks though that's why spending a bit of money to get that early influx and skip the annoying shit can be worth it. Game works fine fully free too, although warframe slots suck dicks.

Yeah I'm definitely not going to judge what people spend plat on. I personally just spent I think 350p buying sevagoth just so i could subsume Gloom, because Sevagoth is one of the two Warframe farms that are not fun to me. Long mission, low droprates, railjack bullshit. No thanks. After running void storms 6-8 times and getting 0 Sevagoth pieces i said fuck it. If it had a guaranteed end point like the newer frames then I'd probably have kept at it. The only other base frame I don't have yet is Kullervo because I really hate that mission. I have a small amount of banes from doing lone story every time I need clamps but I'm not going out of my way to get that frame.

But my point was that the necramech farm doesn't take too long if you really tunnel vision on what you need and go to the right spots. I really don't think it's anywhere near as long as the recent warframe farms like jade, citrine, koumei. But it's definitely less fun. It's fresh in my mind because I recently did the voidrig farm on a new account playing with my son. Heciphron was indeed the slowest part of it but it really didn't take long when you just enter cambion drift, teleport over to that canyon on the left side (albrech's prospect i think?), clear out the mining nodes in the caves on the side then leave, repeat. Took only a few runs to get all the heciphron needed. It was slowed down by a bit because given it was a new account I didn't have an archwing launcher either, and getting that took some farming too. But it's all part of the game.
The other mining locations are similarly quick if you go to the right places, orb vallis (teleport to the right side and go into the exploiter orb tunnels), and plains of eidolon (caves near seaside ruin).
If you're not into those mechanics then it can be pretty dull though, it's definitely not as engaging warframe missions.

I've finished up all the quest lines and started getting myself up to speed. Picked up the Boltor, Dual Tox and Torid incarnons. I just so happen to have a fairly average Riven for the Torid, so that's been pretty fun.

I too got bottle-necked at the Necramech with the quest lines, apparently it's where I quit last time I played. Once I settled back into the various systems it was very easy to smash out doing Isolation Vaults. Once that was done it was off to explore Shards and getting access back to the Steel Path (which is what led me to the Incarnon stuff).

Currently maining either Revenant, Nova, Saryn or Nekros.

Also had to call my ISP to get match-making to work, and switch from Oceania to US to actually get groups for various things.

I guess I've been gone longer than I thought. Sevagoth was released the last time I played looking at my collection. Any forum clans? I guess I can join PC ones now since I'm cross-save.

It finished the 1999 question this weekend and started the new progression. It’s different, but I like it. I’ve identified at least 3 factions I need to level up so far.

What are some fun frames/weapons from the last few years? I picked up the Xaku bundle and formaed him and his weapons with some overframe builds and my Octavia build still does well enough. A lot of my other builds are dated because I unlocked helmith, but never spent any time with it besides feeding old frames to it.

Depends what you find to be fun.
Wisp, Protea and Citrene are all really good newish frames.
If Xaku is new to you then the weapons from Deimos like Cedo and Sporelacer are too, they are both good.
Tenet, Kuva and Incarnon weapons are mostly all really good.

I’d started farming Kuva weapons last I played because the Kuva nukor was the thing to have.

Incarnon is completely new to me. I see there’s an incarnon Boltor, so that’ll be what I go for first. For some reason the boltor was one of my favorite weapons early on for me. I think I cleared most of the star map with Frost, a boltor and atomos my first time through.

Note that Incarnon mode is often entirely fucking different from the base weapon. There's a few incarnons that keep it roughly the same(and a few where the incarnon form is dogshit so you just use the base form with increased stats) but it's worth checking a video on the weapon to see how it behaves when in incarnon form as for most of them that's all you're going to be using other than a few shots to recharge it.

Can't say much about the Boltor, I had most incarnon adapters but didn't bother using them since it costs a bunch of the annoying duviri mats for each weapon and realistically I only wanted a few of them anyway.

Oh also you can only get specific incarnons every week. It's a 8 weeks rotation with 5 incarnons per week available, set rotation so you can go to the wiki to see what's there. I still had the link bookmarked so checked and yeah Boltor is week4 and it's week6 now, so basically you have to wait a month a half for that. The Circuit

Burston is very good this week though, and Vasto if you want a fun weapon for very specific uses(deletes one single target per charge including demolishers and shit). If you're into melee, Nami solo is also great.

Also worth noting that a few of the waves of incarnons (the ones added after the initial release) can be bought with platinum if you dont want to wait for weeks to farm a few guns.

If you are returning from awhile ago, I think the biggest change would be that the Hunter's Munition meta is dead after the element/armor changes. You don't need viral and HM on every primary anymore to do damage to high level enemies. It's mostly viral heat now though.

It's only 2 weeks, one of which is a launch one(week 2 with notably the Boar Incarnon which is really good and the Angstrum which is like a poor man's Torrid) and the very most recent one week 8(which for guns is pretty average choices with the Cestra being meh and the best weapon by far being Okina which is melee). For some reason they don't have a rotation in the shop or any consistency in terms of what gets added.

Incarnon Boltor Prime is amazing, with that said... Incarnon Torid makes Incarnon Boltor Prime look like a toothpick. About to go get the Incarnon for Burston, I hear it's pretty good.

Side note: Dante is fuckballs incredible.

PS: Still need a clan? If just need access to the Dojo for blueprints and shizz, I can invite to my solo clan.

I'm lazy and use the same 3 weapons on most frames.
Sporelacer - don't have to aim, just point in their general direction and everything dies. Infinite ammo, huge AE, rapid fire, great flexibility in damage types. One drawback is it makes using primed sure footed on every frame extremely desirable (if it wasn't already).

Felarx - for hard targets, point at level 500 bombardiers and they disappear. This is what I use for killing archons, liches, sisters etc.

Praedos - for movement speed in general when I don't need a specialist melee weapon.

I could use a clan sure. I had all the clan BP's as of 4 years ago, not sure if there's anymore. But, it makes trading easier and being able to dry dock again would be nice.

I've started the Holdfasts faction and it looks like it'll take me a bit to unlock it. I'll definitely check out the Incarnon weapons.

I've got a Catchmoon like that I always relied on to clear halls of enemies. My Acceleratra, Catchmoon and Paracesis have been enough to carry me through bounty grouping, but I know I need to revisit the builds.

I had some super slow Dokrahm Zaw on half my builds, and I can't remember why.

Exodia Contagion probably? Can throw them and the animation is pretty fast and it pops most things in one shot with slow weapons. I mean it used to be a thing, nowadays melee is melee influence, swing a couple of times everything in sight dies instantly kind of thing(there's also still glaive throwing shit but I don't think that's really melee). There was slam spam builds but they nerfed that pretty heavily, it's still viable but it used to be broken as fuck with wukong cancelling the animation.
