Still no power. Last night when I checked, 86k in area, this morning was down 63k. My town is tiny, the main part now has power. Don't see any physical problems it isn't on in my side yet, so hopefully will be back on soon. This is 1st time I can remember it being off for more than a few hours.

I've got a friend in Augusta and they're saying they might not have consistent power for another two weeks. This really fucked shit up. The Asheville footage is absolutely wild.

Parents live in east TN. 1-40 to the east of them is gone apparently.

Going to get even worse cause there's another forming in the same spot. May not strengthen or take the same path, but it's a good possibility.

Shit happens. Thousand year flood levels doesn't mean that it's gonna be a thousand years before it happens or that it can't happen more often than every thousand years and while some of this may have been ailing/neglected infrastructure, you can't realistically build everything to withstand thousand year weather events.

Hopefully they don't use Chinese Drywall to repair and build back. That was a disaster post Katrina.

During and after Katrina Louisiana had a gobvernor that had been a teacher and the unions put her there.

I said it before, Edwin Edwards was as crooked as they come and I never voted for him but honestly I htink he was only on the ballot once when I lived there. Having said that if he had been governor shit would have got done. Probably lined a lot of peoples pockets including his own, but the red tape would have been cut through in a hurry.

Summer just keeps on going...

Living on the west side of the valley at least the lows will be a few degrees cooler usually, so we'll hit the 60s overnight. Get a break, unlike actual summer temps.

We broke the record from 1947 last week for most days over 100 degrees.

It's dry, and my time of use energy plan changes to fall usage so won't be cutting the A/C off between 6-9pm anymore. Could be worse.

People always talking about how great California weather is, but what I am seeing from this is DFW weather is as good as SoCal weather! (for like 1 months out of the year)

Depends on where in CA but the higher population areas tend to be on the nicer side. I don't have much knowledge/experience of TX beyond June - July in San Antonio, July - Oct in Witchita Falls and another few weeks in Witchita Falls during winter but I forget the date range.

Ya all the coastal valleys have great weather all year long... it’s why silicon valley exists where it does. Go inland a bit and it’s all fucked you get an 8 month 90-110 summer every year.
