I have this convo a lot with people. There is a price you may one day pay for living on the coast down here. I feel bad for those people... but...
You accept that there is a small possibility that one day your house may go underwater. You choose to live there you choose to dance with the Devil every storm season. Its why I have always chosen to live about 15-20 miles from the water. A> I am not a big boat person and B> I am not a big fan of seeing my house go underwater. I'm willing to drive 15 minutes to the water because that 15 miles makes all the difference in the word when it comes to storm surge.

I have zero standing water anywhere in my neighborhood. 15 minutes away last night they were using airboats to rescue people in the downtown because of 6' of water. In downtown. This is about 8 hours after it peaked last night...

Won't anyone think of rich people in coastal communities???

Power has been out about 4 hours. Neighbors walnut tree up rooted in one side and leaned into our detached carport pushing it into the house. After the wind stopped, it the stood back up. Carport is all out of shape and just appears to be a dent in the house .
The neighbor is a power line worker so probably won't see him for a month.

No real issues here. I feel like we got lucky with the eye going right over as opposed to be on the North Eastern side of the eye.

The two in North Carolina were the 2nd and 3rd deaths and it was a car accident. Before the hurricane even made landfall. I mean, yeah, there might have been some rain there, but it seems kind of disingenuous to call them hurricane deaths. Sadly I think one was a small child though.

The hurricane probably effected the climate, and thus ultimately caused the accident.

Speaking of, I went and looked for some Tweets about Asheville, and they're filled with climate change nonsense.

But also "this is the most flooding since 1919." Or maybe "as bad as the 1916 flood!"

It's like how Death Valley was always almost going to break the record for the 1930s and that's proof the planet is getting warmer.

Is Asheville getting swamped, I know a furry dipshit that lives in the poor zone there I need to holler at if so.

how is there more death in the carolinas than florida?

Probably retards playing with water, especially those who aren't used to flash flooding.

I've seen someone drive their SUV around road closed barriers on a freeway exit, down the offramp into a flooded underpass (probably 20-30 feet deep) and drown themselves. They just floated away as the car sank and didn't bother opening anything, lights went out and that was the last you saw of them. Looked like they were trying to call someone on their cellphone instead of escaping. People are fucking retarded with water and cars.

They always do that. One of the deaths counted as a Katrina death was a woman in Kentucky that a tree fell on her car or it fell and she ran into it.

Someone I knew was counted as a death for hurricane Andrew. After Andrew cross over Florida it landed in Louisiana and went into the spillway that killed off all the fish and it took foreve to recover. But anyway she was at home in Baton Rouge and the power went out and some trees went down and she had a heart attack and because of the downed trees and such it took the ambulence longer than normal to get to her and she died.
