I'll check those out. I have android but they have that fitness buddy app on there, and it is cheap and looks good. I still want to lose about 30 lbs before I really start this phase of things, though.
Don't totally rule it out bro. Doing a beginner full body workout with sets of 15-20 reps with only 30 sec rest in between set can be a great cardio workout and is a hell of a lot more exciting than a treadmill.

In the world of weightlifting, good routines seem to change with the tides. One thing that I learned was that you shouldn't do things like biceps and triceps on the same day since you are basically doing completely different muscle movements and could injure yourself. I always felt the same for back and abs on the same day. Is this advice still true?
I've never heard that said and don't agree with it based on my experience. Not saying it can't/doesn't happen (anything can), but you'd have to go into a bit more explanation for the why, other than "you are basically doing completely different muscle movements". OK..so? Why is that bad and going to possibly cause me more injury then not doing it?

I never did bis and tris on the same day. It wasn't because of fear of injury though, it was because I just couldn't get the kind of workout I wanted on them. After doing biceps my arms would be too fatigued to get a good tri workout and vice versa. If I tried to alternate I never was able to get that next day good sore and I never felt myself making progress.

I'm on a weight loss program that includes drinking 1/3 liter of whiskey every day.

Been keeping on my macros, but it's been tough. Alcohol really takes a toll on your system

Fuck, I FINALLY hit 40lbs lost this morning after being on the edge for almost 2 weeks.

Stupid pound, holy shit.
I weigh myself every week but I try not to put too much stock in the number. Some weeks it goes up two lbs, and then the next week drops 7. Whatever. I have an app on my phone that tracks it, so long as the graph and the trend are headed the right way that is all that matters.

Bros, yesterday I did deadlifts for the first time since high school. Here at work we don't have free weights, they only have a smith machine. But whatever, I figured I will do that while I'm here and do the free weights at the gym at home. So I did squats and deadlifts, following one of the leg workout routines from that Fitness Buddy app. Holy fuckballs am I sore today. Especially my upper back, which I was not expecting. It is really awkward doing deadlifts on the smith machine, do not like. I am about to hit the gym again here in about 25 minutes and I am dreading that shit. It will be fine after I get going, but today is a rough day. Good shit.

If it's all you have available to you then why not. Just make sure that the awkwardness of the motions does't cause strain or injury to your back. I assume you can tell the difference between muscle soreness and back pain.

Yeah no, it is sore, not pulled or anything. If I had another option at work, I definitely would not have done the smith machine. But it was either that or just skip like 50% of the lower body shit I actually know how to do.

Does the smith machine use plates? If it does, you are probably better off just loading the plates onto a handle and doing sumo deadlifts.

I'm assuming you have access to a range of machines at your work gym, why not do leg-presses? Do they not even have dumbbells at your work gym? Even at most hotels I've seen some kind of free weight, You can just do "dumbbell deadlifts" and "dumbbell squats".

I went into the e-cig thread looking for advice on what to buy that doesn't suck like the store bought e-cigarettes. The information in there was so staggering I just gave up even trying and instead continue to smoke regular cigarettes. I feel like all this talk about macro-nutrients and hypertrophy focused routines will have the same effect for people just trying to get going with weight loss. Don't get me wrong this is the weight loss thread and a lot of you guys have very focused regimens and the discussion belongs here. But giving people who are trying to figure out a routine at the gym for the first time in their life that kind of information is going to overload them into giving up before they even start. It just isn't that complicated.
this thread hasn't been about scale loss for a long time. My epic journey from 23.3% body fat to 9.9% was the catalyst and still the benchmark

This thread is about anything and everything that's part of weight loss. Whether it's you trying to lower your body fat percentage or someone new to this looking for weight loss advice. You pompous, arrogant prick.

Well, to be fair, Ossoi has an enormous head so it makes sense that he's arrogant.
