Started skipping rope to do some cardio while it's still cold as fuck outside. Most likely start doing wind sprints once it warms up.

Wish I could skip like a boxer, though. That shit is badass.
Should I practice jumping on one foot, then switch to other? Or just do double at the moment and then try to work my way into bouncing the way they do?

I love how this thread is all: someone posts a diet/exercise that is getting results for them, some scrawny keyboard nerd comes along screaming "omg that's broscience durrrrr retards", how about all the people shitting over every diet/routine post pics?
You make out like I've been hoodwinked by some charlatan TV evangelist, so far the only extra thing I've bought from him is some Poliquin brand BCAAs. Everything else he's recommended I've sourced elsewhere
.
Please don't tell me you hired a Poliquin certified trainer oh sweet baby jesus.
Thanks for proviing my point, douchebag. Convinced you are trolling at this stage, if someone dares to post anything that isn't a standard/conventional workout program or that deviates from a USDA approved food pyramid/diet then you are all over them yet still you refuse to post your credentials, bore off retard

Just keep jumping. You'll learn to go with the rhythm, you'll be able to do other things. It's really about distributing more weight onto one foot more than the other. When you're coming down after passing over the rope you put a bit more weight onto your right foot so that it lands just before your left, then you switch to the other foot the next pass. When you get the rhythm, it will come natural. It just takes practice. Then you can start crossing, doing doubles, running backwards, whatever you want.

Whenever anyone gets their feelings hurt, then the poster is a troll. Troll troll troll.

I say this because do you know how nuts people think Poliquin is? A lot of the stuff he says regarding strength training is pretty good, and then he makes comments like he lost 6% bodyfat but gained 10 pounds in five days in the Dominican Republic from eating organic food only and it throws people off.

Poliquin's work isn't far from standard or conventional, I mean, he's a strength coach at heart. But he's highly controversial and tries to create a little cult like following that bashes anything that isn't his ideas. He also cherry picks research flatly ignores facts in research to prove a point and make his youtube videos. Someone did a post dissecting 3-4 of the videos on t-nation that talk about nutrition. Because he tells people to eat meat and nuts for breakfast and TM's it doesn't really make him a revolutionary. He's a little crazy, and a lot of respected people in the industry think he's a quack. Some trainer Bret Contreras made like a 20min video that is kind of embarrassing on his part but really kind of sums up the feelings on Poliquin by anyone who didn't pay to become a certified trainer through him.

Also, the next time you buy BCAA's, buy Xtend or buy them bulk from truenutrition.com. His BCAA's at the same dose as those other two give you 32 servings roughly, whereas they provide 90 servings. All of his supplements are really really bad and they are underdosed.

Don't flatter yourself, you have zero credibility in this thread because you repeatedly ignore requests for credentials.

Spend the money on getting a speed rope if you're serious about it. It's made quite the difference for me, especially with double-unders. It takes a bit to get used to the speed of these ropes, but once you do, it's night and day compared to the cheaper kinds. I got this oneSurge Jump Rope. I'm 6'4", and it's pretty much maxed out, so if you're taller than me, I wouldn't suggest it.
I bought one from WalMart for $3 lol. It was Gold's Gym brand, it's the one I've been using. I'll have to provide a link but for $3 it seemed like a decent deal, even if it falls apart rapidly. It also has adjustable weights in the handles, which I thought was nice.

Moved past sega vs nintendo level arguments after the age of 11 but thanks
I'll be the first to say that Arkk is an unbearable asshole (and now he's giving sea otters a bad name). However, having followed these fitness threads since the very first body competition on FoH many years ago, I have to grudgingly admit that his information is generally quite correct and informative. I've learned a lot from looking more deeply into the stuff he claims. That said, I don't necessarily follow it all, but it doesn't hurt to be well-informed about various fitness issues.

Even putting Arkk aside for a moment and speaking to anyone reading this thread who is trying to lose weight, I do hope you're doing research about your exercises, diet, and supplements. After all, this is directly connected with your health so you want to make sure you know what the hell you're doing and you should take it quite seriously. There's such a wealth of good information available now thanks to the Internet that it is almost criminal to take things at face value.

Hell, even if you're working directly with a personal trainer, don't be afraid to look up the shit he/she says to verify it. Anyone who has a basic understanding of fitness and goes to a gym regularly can testify about some of the absurd shit that comes out of trainers' mouths.

What do you guys think of my lunch? It's the same every day, a whole wheat buffalo wrap with a salad and a fruit cup. The only thing I could see possibly being unhealthy is the blue cheese that goes into the buffalo sauce, but I've asked how they make and there's no way there's more than 2 tablespoons per serving (I'm basing this of of Marie's Blue Cheese, which is 2 tbls 80 calories), so I think it could possibly be even a little too low in terms of calories. Thinking about adding a protein shake in at lunch.

This isn't necessarily to lose weight, just a general health question. The salad is oil/vinegar over lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers and the fruit cup is strawberries, honeydew, cantaloupe and pineapples. Seems like a good meal to me, but I thought I'd ask the general public of FoH/RR.

Sounds pretty good in terms of general health. The only thing I'd question is the amount of sodium in it, especially considering it uses a hot sauce. They tend to pack quite a bit of sodium.

If you're really curious about the nutritional breakdown go to a site like myfitnesspal and plug in some raw ingredients to build a rough equivilent (or find out the exact brands of everything they use).

I love asparagus but fml trying to avoid it because it makes my spunk smell like death fluid. There are some awesome recipes here though, cheers

There is a good chance you have the MTHFR genetic defect that means you can detect the odour after asparagus consumptionhttp://www.charlespoliquin.com/Blog/...u-at-Risk.aspx

I recommend buying a lifetime supply of every Poliquin product in order to completely rebuild your genetic code. That's what my trainer recommended to me and I have taken on board his advice whole heartedly and am now regenerating DNA whilst burning body fat

REGENERATING DNA?! HOLY SHIT.

Yeah, asparagus piss is pretty terrible, but enduring it for the length of a piss is definitely worth the deliciousness.

And yeah, sodium is probably high, but if that's the only downside I'm not too concerned.

What does your diet consist of? Alcohol intake? Level of activity? I was 240lb at 6'4" at one point, cut out all soda, sugars (from candy and snacks) and tried to eat more balanced meals, and that shed 20+ lbs right off the top. This was without doing any working out. If you're serious about the losing of the weight, take a step back and take an honest look at what you are putting into your body every day. After that, there are a bunch of options you could go with depending on how dedicated you are to losing the weight and keeping it off.

Similar situation except I am 5'8", I was 240, over the past year I've lost 40 (I was concerned I was experiencing symptoms of diabetes). I started by cutting down to 1 regular 20oz pop a day from 3 (plus occasional energy drinks), then a few weeks later just cut out sugared soda completely (replaced by diet pop and diet/artificially sweetened tea). I was more careful about what I drank for alcoholic drinks, realizing that I could go through 800+ calories just from the mixers. Then for a while I started religiously counting calories. I think that was where I got my biggest results (1500 calories a day for me). In November I started working out, I started at 3x a week, but now I'm down to 1x-2x a week simple doing a starting weight lifting program which takes no more than 30 minutes and barely works up a sweat, occasionally supplemented by doing squats/pushups/situps until failure in my bedroom a few times a week.

Changes that you can dedicate yourself to, and not expecting to see results any time soon is the best advice I can give you. It took you 33 years to get into the shape you are, don't expect to see a massive improvement in 1 month or 3 months. But stay with it, and take pictures, and compare yourself if you stick with body improvement a year later and you'll be happy. Set goals, and just like playing an MMO, some people get a kick out of seeing numbers rise. If you run, keep records of your time, if you care about lifting weights, record your results. If you care about how you look take pictures. It took me an entire year to lose 40 lbs, I know some people can do it in 4 or 5 months, but they also tend to burn out and rebound back to their former weights (LOTS of people I work with go through that). The important thing to realize it's a big lifestyle change and you have to stay consistent with it. It's ok to turn down food, If someone buys you pizza, it's ok not to eat it, and instead go grab the protein shake if that's what you "really" want to do. If you'd rather eat the pizza than the same "boring" crap that is part of your new diet plan, then maybe you didn't really want to lose the weight in the first place.

I find using MYFITPAL app really helps. When you start realizing how many calories you drink each day and how bad the food you enjoy really is, it really opens your eyes.

Yes, Myfitnesspal is an amazing utility. Plug in your information and follow the caloric recommendations it gives. If you're honest about what you're eating and follow it to a 'T', you WILL lose weight.
