You can see some side definition of "abs" at a fairly high bf% in my experience. Like 16%+ or so I still have that, so maybe that's what some people are seeing. But really it's just a layer of fat buldging in the shape of your abs. Still looks better than the round and smooth belly.

Mind boggling to me the people who are losing 10+ pounds a week, but I guess that's generally been people who are pretty hugely overweight. I've been pretty happy dropping around a pound a week for the past 8 weeks. Went from around 198 in Mid April to 190. Haven't made any huge changes other than getting a bit more exercise, cutting out my morning toast with my eggs, and being a bit smarter when I dine out (which I do, a lot). I don't think I'd have the willpower to lose weight any faster, I like food and booze too much. The rate I'm going at now is totally manageable, I never feel like I'm overly hungry or that I'm denying myself of much. If I can keep this pace up through the rest of summer, I'll be about where I want to be (somewhere around 175) by fall. I'm 5'9" and don't really do any weight lifting, so I'm not particularly muscular. But with the biking, hockey, skiing, jogging etc. I've got some decently sized legs. I just want to get rid of most of the gut (maybe 15% BF?) and increase my performance in the activities I enjoy. Body building holds zero interest for me, although I do intend on doing more work with weights as I progress, if only to get back some explosiveness in my skating.

Always been a pretty thick guy.

A year ago I was down to 250, running 8.5 minute miles, benching about 305 (free weights), with a 19" neck and 52" chest. 71" tall.

Grew up paying sports (football, field, 100m fat man) and working manual labor on construction sites / farms etc.

My goal is to be healthier, and I know 215-225 is a good weight for me, with 205 being ideal, and below that... I don't even know. Lol

I'm 6'2 and 185lbs right now, I'd like to go down to 175 and lose mostly fat. To accomplish this I've been eating 150-200g of protein daily, 1500-1800 calories, and lifting 4 times a week and doing 20-25 minutes of cardio per day (300-350 calories worth).

Hopefully I don't lose much muscle on the way down, I don't have much to spare

Numbers: I'm working out with 2 45's and 2 10's on each side for bench flat and incline, for reference (I guess thats 175lbs). So I'm not a total pussy, but I'm not huge.

Yea sorry, I had to total it up in my head I've just been slapping weights on as I get stronger.

It's 1 45 and 1 10 on each side, although sometimes I do 2 10's on each side for the first couple sets.

Drop the cardio, especially on days you lift, and you should be fine re muscle loss.

1500 cals sounds low, I'd say you could get away with 1800-2000 every day, provided you're working out with sufficient intensity of course.

I'd eat more protein as well to make sure muscle loss is reduced.

How lean are you currently?

It seems like a boring life living below 10% or even 15% BF. I also ate pizza, cookies and a slurpee today along with beers so I've got my priorities twisted.
It does get boring - most normal humans don't stay under 10% indefinitely. I usually do it once a year for the summer (start in the Spring) and spend most of the fall/winter in maintenance and then bulking. Once you get in a routine though, you can pretty much base your year around your lifting schedule. This past year, I got up to 205 lbs @6'0" and the cut has been easier than its ever been - I'm sure because I had more muscle than I've ever had played its part. Down to around 185 lbs and 10% body fat, but would like to be even leaner.

!500 seems way low. Doesn't the body only tolerate a certain amount of fat loss speed? I keep it at 2000 and have a similar build, little bit taller, little bit leaner with almost the same exact workout protocol and still dropping fat. Almost certainly losing some muscle but it's hard to really tell how much. I'm losing very little weight though while continuing to cut up so I suppose I'm staying close to even muscle wise.
