And curl with the straight bar at the squat rack.
Curls for the girls!

Certainly your guesstimate for 10% do legs jives at my gym. Hell, I don't even see most of them deads much less squats.

The last 6 weeks or so has seen a crazy spike of people in my gym doing deadlifts. It's pretty annoying because they always grab the bar off a power rack and do the deadlifts just outside it. I'm always kicking people out so I can actually use the rack.

It makes me really want to start deadlifting again though. I stopped at the beginning of May because I felt some snapping in my forearm. It never bruised or anything, but it scared the shit out my because I figured I was close to tearing something in my arm (I just don't know what). I actually think I figured out why it happened, based on trying to deadlift once again a month ago. I had watched Richard Hawthorne deadlift and I think I ended up rotating my elbow too far forward (towards the bar) and that must have put something in a bad position. And the only reason I was doing that was because I'm scared as shit of tearing a bicep doing deadlifts.

I'm pretty sure if I picked it up again right now though, I could hit a 5 plate dead by the end of the year.

The other day I ordered aBest Belt. They're custom made weight lifting belts. I'm pretty excited to get it. It probably won't be here for another 3 weeks though. Ended up going with a single prong, athlete (4") belt in royal blue. It wasn't until after I ordered that I saw you can get a custom color scheme for just $5 more. I wish I had. Can do 3 different colors.

I almost went to the gym last night but ate a pint of ice cream and then had a 40 instead. #thinprivilege

You use a mixed grip? I haven't done that in months. You lose grip strength but whatever, I much prefer straight grip.

What grip you using? Monkey grip or standard?

Possibly you went up too quickly in weight while deadlifting. Any time I feel pain I definitely drop the weight down for a few weeks.

You are probably right on the positioning, wrist or elbow out of alignment (usually because you are too wide/ narrow or my personal flaw of not being quite close enough to the bar) will definitely screw with it, especially at the weights it sounds like you are pulling.

I usually end up switching to mixed grip after 2 sets because I find it easier on my left and my left hand loses grip strength. Plagued me since most of my life. I really should strap, but I keep convincing myself that if I don't it will eventually get better (lol I am 40 so odds are pretty good that ain't happening...)

Never had any arm issues with deadlifting regardless of grip. I've felt a grinding feeling that felt like it was in my tricep but ending up being in my back a couple times. Also got bloody knees a few times which makes you feel like a dumbshit

It's an odd spot to feel pain during deads if it was too much weight, I would expect him to have ripping in his glutes if it was just too heavy. Hard to say, but my bet is on form over weight

Right it is an odd spot, but I'd argue that if he went too high in weight he might throw form out the window. What I suspect is he's still lifting some of the weight with his arms instead of just holding it "dead"

I guess I should have mentioned that I tried pronated and supinated on the arm that felt it, and in both cases I had the snapping pain.

And it definitely wasn't from going up in weight too much. I pulled 425 back in February, and 420 in March. The first time I felt it was pulling 405, and then the next week at 345 (last week of April, first week of May). And then after my break I pulled 365 and felt it (3rd week of June).

The snapping was about where the palmaris longus is on this image. It didn't feel like a muscle though, more like a tendon snapping. But maybe those muscle are small enough that it'd feel similar. It felt very hot afterward.

And regarding your comment above this one, Noodle, I think it's specifically because I was forcing myself tonotuse my arms that it happened. I may try again and just do it without rotating my elbows in. Basically I think I was overthinking it and trying to remove my arms from the movement so much that I ended up putting stress on something else. Whereas my normal deadlift form I would have just pulled the slack out of the bar and lifted it.

Progress pic 2014. 6 years doing shit right. 1 year (2011) where I relapsed(gained 70lbs) due to my life going down the drain. Have a bit of extra skin that won't go away without surgery. Considering it.

Unless you're somehow tightening it up in that picture, the extra skin is barely noticeable at all.

You can see by my belly button that there is a bit hanging down. The skin is loose, and it annoys the fuck out of me.

Saw a dude squatting 8 plates in the gym today. Was some 300-ish lb. Polynesian guy. God damn was that impressive.
