Oh yeah, and I forgot the reason why I told that story - I was already holding very little water weight because of the low carb diet, but overnight I flushed out another kg of water weight.
It's not just drinking water heavily, you need to combine it with very heavy sodium in the week prior to the shoot, and then when you cut out all the sodium 2 days prior, the water over the next day flushes out all the sodium in your body, and it will give you a dehydated look, as if you'd been drinking sea-water all week long. And then no/little water the day of to get the maximally dehydrated/veiny look, essentially going about 16+ hours on no water after a week of seawater and then 2 days of fresh water.

Or so I've read, I'm obviously not a bodybuilder either.

He's probably right about needing more muscle mass too. If I did that all I'd end up with is loose skin over my abs.

You can manipulate sodium. The program I was using to cut has a section on the end on water/carb depletion for a photoshoot, so that is what I followed.

I think more muscle mass and a lower body fat % would have made it worthwhile

I go back to the gym tomorrow for my first day of post race workout. My body is ready for the techno.

Went to the gym, guy just was doing bicep curls in the squat rack and another guy was grunting and yelling during every rep so not much has changed.

Know what rustles my jimmies? When I HAVE to use the squat rack because every other bar is taken and I need to get my deadlift on. Well I guess I'm not in the squat rack, but I'm using the bar from the squat rack.

I'd give you a pass on that. If there aren't a bunch of bars sitting around, it is no better or worse than using a bar off a bench. Not the same thing as doing abs or curls in the squat rack.

That's fine with me, gym I go too doesn't have spare bars or space for deads so most people do then just outside the squat rack and it's pretty much the same exercise so it's cool.

Deadlifts in the squat rack is perfectly acceptable as long as you aren't wearing an elevation training mask. Then you are just a fag.

Down to 210. 22 lbs lost since I started this push. 20-25 lbs to my goal.

Was also in my first dragon boat race this last weekend. Lots of fun, but holy fuck.

Just found out I have a slightly (?) fractured rib from BJJ on Friday. This is upsetting. I hit 182 this last weekend (100 lbs lost overall) and am slated to get another BodPod visit done 10/1. I was hoping to be into the 170s by the point, however, I am going to be out at least 3 - 4 weeks while this heals. May have to take up biking while I heal as I am not sure any other low impact things I could really be doing.

I would take a break completely and let it heal fully. Why risk re-injuring yourself? It really does suck having to break the routine and then get back into all over again but it's better than making the injury worse or constantly re-injuring yourself and never being able to get back to it.

Just eat right and you will still lose weight.

Absolutely Ubi -- let it heal. When I was in the USMC I watched a handful of guys in great shape tear apart their body simply by not allowing otherwise-routine injuries time to heal. Men in their mid 20s relying on an ankle brace simply because they wouldn't just NOT FUCKING RUN ON IT for a few weeks while a sprain fixed itself. This is half of the reason why people talk about how the infantry is hell on a man's body; because some men are just too fucking stupid to recognize the difference between injury and pain.

I'd say riding a bike with a small rib fracture is slightly different than running with an ankle injury. If it causes you pain then I'd definitely avoid it, though. Bone injuries aren't like muscle injuries where working through some pain can be helpful

I've known people who raced bikes with broken ribs, you'll be fine doing light cardio with a bike.

Anderson Silva fought in the Octagon with broken ribs or something, man up pussies.

Been lifting for about a month now pretty solidly and loving it. I still look like some strange amorphous blob, but feeling better about myself at least.
