I am pretty active, and really maybe not right thread, I'm under 200 again 6ft farmer man lite. I dont know anything about measuring body comp, but I know i have more biceps etc I didnt use to have. But just always struggled even when I was like 18 with getting results from steady workouts etc. My gains during boot camp which was a combat mos before they were gay was pretty anemic.

These days other than lack of willpower to run a couple miles in the dark by the time im done with work and chores, is my diet is still trash. Even when I'm not eating too much processed stuff, still ends up a lot of grain/veggy and not near enough protein which comes from a mix of lazy/bad cook. I'd been starting to do stuff like a couple cans of tuna in with fancy expensive ramen. We always ate a lot of burger in various dishes, but I want to find a way of working on our half a beef worth of roasts and things and chicken thighs that I like better. I dont really want to spend 2 hours fucking with and dealing with some big roasts, so I'd be happier trying to chopping it all pretty fine to try and keep it more tender like your usual cheap chinese beef and either accept that some high calorie sauces/fried might be worth the calorie hit just to get me eating more than like 40-50g of protein on an average day in between spurts of eating half a prime rib in one go.

protein powder, bro.

2 scoops of Gold Standard whey, 2 cups of milk = 407 calories, 65 grams of protein, 2 grams of fat.

I thought it was just for Arnold looking folk, but honestly, changed my life. I feel 10x better eating my body weight in grams of protein every day, no T required.

I've done that off and on especially when I did actually go to the gym more before the sheriff, but I find most of them kinda nauseating pretty quick over time. I seen some of these like clear liquid things that still somehow are like 30g protein.

I also kinda teasing on foh was under the impression for general health id be much healthier with red bear for all the amino etc, vs whey being a lot of protein but not being the complete spread, kinda like how vegetarians get sickly on just beans and whey.

O think another good option is I need to learn to make a load of jerky because I would have no problems making that disappear.

That's actually really easy too if you have a smoker. I took a bottom round and a center round, sliced em thin, hung them on toothpicks in the smoker for a few hours, fucking awesome. Marinade them beforehand to your taste.

Important note however - refrigerate that shit. It ain't like storebought stuff where it's fine on the counter.

I don't though some of my fancy bullshit ninja 20 in one toaster oven is speed to dehydrate. Not sure about the little electric smoke grill, it only smoke for a short period, made fun of that wide purchase elsewhere. Aside from not being motivated to do a lot of cooking (need to clear freezer space and just do the portions of broccoli and chicken etc), I'm also so Jewish, after all this inflation I hate seeing anything over like $6/lb, I'm happy we got this cheap half a beef but down to the roasts and burger.

There is no doubt in my mind that Carnivore, Atkins and whatever other diet that eliminates carbs and the sugars that bond to carbs - that people will lose weight. I just dont get why you would choose that specific diet when you can eat really good foods and just limit your calories. Those high protein diets, as he points out, have barely any fiber - so you're just sitting there with mountains of protein in your gut and intestines making you feel like complete shit because well.. you dont have enough fiber to take a proper shit. That of course makes you eat less food, but fucking hell.. what a way to diet.

Im a full proponent of eating rice, and clean beef, chicken, turkey etc. (low fat), with apples, bananas, etc. that all adds up to less than what my body needs throughout the day as a diet. I think the biggest hurdle for people is one, no one tells them what to eat exactly, and in how much of a portion, and how many times a day they should eat. The other part is the liquids they drink. For fucks sake, water is the best.. but some people, myself included, only like to drink water once in a while. So they need to be steered into the direction of things that are obviously not as healthy as water, but will still satiate their desire for something that tastes good. A powerade zero for example. Shits what the plants crave. Or, when food is bland and they want to adjust it.. What specific butter should they use? What seasonsings in general, should they use? You can be ultra hard up and say these seasonings are calories, but I want to enjoy life at the same time. That 15 calories from taco seasoning is worth it, man. Trust me.

Last I needed to do a strict diet like that, .. granted I still roughly follow it now cause I dont want to blow up like Biggie - but my diet cost about 80 bucks every week and a half - or lets just say 200 for the month. With the majority of that being the fucking Powerades. Rice, 93% Beef, Oatmeal, Eggs, Bananas and Apples are fucking extremely cheap foods with a lot of mass. Supplement with a 6 pound bag of Protein Powder thats 85 bucks spread over 2 month. Supplement with Vitamin packs that spread over 2 months (40 bucks). Plus, I can prepare at least a dozen different tastes to the Beef with the proper seasonings. Eating 4 times a day, 7 days a week. Proper workout and exercise at least 3 times a week. Works great, you feel great, you lose weight. Fuck a fad diet. Cheap.

If you're a big guy and you're really putting in the effort and doing the work - your biggest battle will be against body dysmorphia in my opinion. I know skinny guys that still have a bit of a gut around them, not because theyre fat.. but because its extra skin. Yea, really gross. But that shit'll go away if you keep at it.

You'll want to eat both before and after a workout generally. Before you want to eat something more slow burning before the work out so you have fuel. The reason you want to also eat after a workout is because within a few hours after a workout is when your body is most likely going to use nutrients to build/repair/refuel muscle as its in a recovery phase so to speak.

Better how? Other than some discomfort if you eat a lot or your walk is very brisk ( which I think your body will adjust to after a little while) Pretty sure there aren’t any issues.
I recall reading something about a walk shortly after eating having a bunch of benefits.

Depend on what you're trying to achieve.

If you're trying to lose weight, might be better to eat after walking, with lot of fat/protein to try to not overeat.

If you're trying to fix or prevent diabetes, walking right after eating will significantly decrease blood glucose peak.

If you're trying to build muscle, you'll need to walk more than 1 hour, but what Fogel said in that case.

Lot of studies are showing taking a 15+min walk shortly after eating has a lot of health benefits. No need to wait an hour-two hours.

I've been eating mostly carnivore for many years now. I literally have no idea what they are talking about regarding high protein, problems shitting, and feeling terrible. Maybe I'm just genetically different or something, but 1) my shits are far cleaner and easier when I am eating only meat then any other time and 2) they are quite a bit smaller and 3) I feel way lighter and more energetic when I am not eating carbs, the less carbs the better. Shit, I need significantly less sleep when I'm in ketosis. When I eat moderate to high carb I feel groggy waking up as a rule, but when I'm low-carb I wake up ready to go. Again, maybe it just works for me particularly well but I don't see any of those symptoms they mention.

What are you including in ‘carbs’ here? I don’t think anyone is saying to eat more bread and pasta.

I mainly see the differences when I'm producing ketones vs when I'm not. So carbs here is any carbs, but there is absolutely a difference in the effects when I'm eating vegetables and fruit versus binging on pizza. I've never done a vegan or vegetarian diet, though, so I can't comment on being at 200g of only health carbs vs 200g of fries and candy. I did experiment with high protein and high "clean" carbs through rice or potatoes briefly, but felt bloated and shitty on that. Ironically, on that diet I felt like Lane says everyone feels just eating meat.

Yeah I kind of wanted to do Carnivore but ended up doing Paleo basically for similar reasons to what you posted. You need some fruit/vegatable/dairy to keep your body's tolerance to those things.

However the big lesson I learned from watching Carnivore videos was having way more fat and protein to satiate myself. That allowed me to go down to 1500 calories a day and not be tempted to cheat.

I doubled the amount of meat I eat and stopped eating carbs.

Done it for two weeks and lost half a stone each week, feeling way better now. Weighing myself every day is creating a lot of motivation.

What are you including in ‘carbs’ here? I don’t think anyone is saying to eat more bread and pasta.
It's probably more accurate to say "staple crops" that are basically the processed foods of the ancient world. The calorie dense stuff that's easy to over eat like bread/pasta/rice/potatoes imo. I've totally cut that stuff out.

Other vegetables have carbohydrates too but you have to eat more of them to get the same amount, so you don't take in too much. I am eating stuff like Broccoli and Cauliflour.

People mostly have no self control and need strictly regimented rulesets to succeed at given tasks. This isn't unique to diet. Most people find more success in nearly every aspect of their lives by regimenting them. Very few people you work with, for instance, are capable of functioning in any sort of productive manner without a boss giving them a well defined project.

So "just limiting calories" almost always fails for overweight people because they already have an indulgent relationship with food and literally have never been able to do that. If they could they wouldn't be overweight.

I truly do think that everyone can just benefit from a good app that tracks your metabolism and calorie intake and just lets you do what you want. Macrofactor really changed my life. For starters, alot of people think they're eating a lot of protein, but aren't. They don't really know what they eat. A lot of people also don't know what their body burns either. "Oh, this is 10% of my daily value, based on a 2,000 calorie diet," without realizing that their lifestyle means they burn 1600 a day. They also don't know what that bag of chips is in comparison to how many calories they have left. My GF is now on this, and is having these realizations now because after dinner an example might be "I have 400 calories left today, but this particular food is 200 calories for 4 pieces. Terrible trade. But I can eat 24 teddy grams for 130 calories? Fuck yeah!"

I was having issues with horrible calf cramps that I literally thought were gonna s snap my leg in the middle of the night. I looked back and found out my potassium intake is laughably low. I also found out cantaloupe has a shitload of it. I love cantaloupe, now it's a part of my diet, and my problems are solved.

You can set the app to gain weight, lose weight, or maintain. Measure what you eat for a couple of weeks, and you'll learn a lot about what you eat, how much you eat, and how much you need. I've since decided I like the weight I'm at (205) and I just need to workout 3-6 times a week, hit my protein goals, and I'm basically good to stay there. I didn't track a single thing last week, I just ate like I know I should, and I started the week at 204.9 and ended the week at 205.1. I can do this because I know my maintenance is 2700 calories a day, and even more than that - I know what 2700 calories looks like now.

Opinions on this at costco. Like I said I don't like powder much, but if I give it another try, no sugar or carbs sounds good, I'll deal with the fake sweetener I assume it has cancer later.
